The things They Carried, began with a weird start. From just reading the beginning I don't get the point they're trying to make by talking about the things they carry. I don't see what is so special about this and why they are even talking about it. But I think as I read further on into the book that it will later show the meaning of why they start the book off like that. It doesn't really make sense but I know that as I read on, further into the book it will come together.
I really like this one part about the word humped. I thought it was a really funny and interesting conversation how words we use now, had a complete different usage to our language a long time ago. It's so weird to think about how some word we can be using right now can mean something totally different when we're old. I just thought it was really interesting.
I also thought Jimmy Cross was quite a character. I never met a guy that fell completely in love with a girl and not even date her or anything. I just think its a little weird. I mean yeah anyone could have a major crush on someone and "love them" but not be IN love with them. I think love is when two people are IN love together. Not just one person wishing and thinking about someone 24/7 while the other person doesn't want anything to do with them. That's jus really weird... I also think its extremly weird how he tells her about wanting to take her up to his room and tie her up so he can feel her leg all night... That's extremly creepy.
This book just has a weird beginning and I hope as I read further it will get a ittle better and stop being so fricking weird.
