I'm so glad you posted it. And I'd really like to think that maybe someday Mac *will* catch his snap and try to make whatever amends he can for what happened between him and Abernathy.

I think maybe he would, knowing that he's dead. If he was alive? Forget about it.

And that something happening between him and Danny is what prompted this, although I didn't want to articulate that in here. Keep it simple and about Jack and Mac. (Lord knows when Danny finds out about that, the chaos will ensue)

I have this picture in my head of Mac looking like Lieutenant Dan, all young and before he lost his legs, being with Jack. It's a crisp picture.
What you have written is a crisp picture as well.
Really well done, I like the image of the breeze catching him... poignant.

I imagine him all young and innocent in a lot of ways, and very different than what he will become. Very Lt. Dan-ish looking though. ;-)

Well, Jack had to have the last word, so to speak, and Mac knew it.

Thanks!

(BTW, your icon reminds me of Shawhshank/The Green Mile. And that makes me happy. :-))

This is a very evocative and touching piece (although it seems a little short ;) ). Could definitely picture the scene in my mind's eye.

Liked the bit with the breeze... Overall all this is very effective and well written. I'd definitely like to see more of whatever you write.

Thanks!

I admit it is short, but that's all the boys gave me that time. They tend to do that a LOT-- I get lots of "still frames". I will say, however, that there are at least 3 other pieces in the works that are significantly larger than this one, and all are different pairings. Problem is, they're slow in coming to me. Most of them are at a dead standstill. If they ever get finished and see the light of day, I'll post them. I'm sure stellaluna_ will keep on top of me to do so-- half the time I keep writing cause she likes it so much.
