White Collar- 1x08 - "Hard Sell"

OMG. White Collar.

*flail*

I expected some parts to be flail-worthy, and I've been dying to know if Peter was bad ever since the finale. (Noooo! Peter CAN'T be bad!) But this BLEW me out of the water. Seriously. Loyalty, trust, constant teasing & zingers, amazing chemistry & excellent wrting.

The trust issues, the partnership, the one-upping each other, the baiting & switching, the fakeouts. The pride and hunger and anger and complete rapt attention that Peter gives Neal at times. The faith that Neal and Peter have in each other when nobody else around them has it.

Neal's fervent denial that Peter is the man with the ring, despite Mozzie's theory. His trust that Peter wouldn't betray him like that. I like Mozzie, but we know he's a paranoid, conspiracy-theorist type anyway.

The palpable excitement that you can hear in Peter's voice in multiple scenes as they start to organize and put in motion this latest bust. (Awesome choice by Tim DeKay and/or director. ) This is what Peter lives for, and now we really know it.

Peter's defense of Neal and his skills-- and that he can help. The pride Peter has in Neal as he listens in to him play the game to get into the boiler room.

The casual "Oh, I'll just come to your place" with pretty much no protest from Peter. In practically the middle of the night, no less.

Peter joining the undercover game, & then the gloves come off. Betrayals and double crosses and trust issues on both ends of the spectrum--trust and perceived betrayal. The 'back me' and 'trust me' parts. They really are becoming true partners.

How they play off each other after Neal convinces himself that Peter really is behind it all and starts being an absolute ass, flinging jabs and digs whenever and wherever he can. Peter just runs with it, but it doesn't take him long to notice something's very wrong with his pet convict Neal.

The look on Peter's face when Neal is an absolute badass with the shotgun, after their little posturing battle a moment earlier.

Neal talking Elizabeth to talk to later on, like this is a common occurrence and the preferred way to do things.

Elizabeth flat out telling Neal that "Peter is the best thing that ever happened to you." (Which, really, is mind blowing, considering she's his wife. This is not something that one would expect the wife to say in any other show format. Or even in real life.)

The fact that Elizabeth knows about everything. including Kate. She's like a 3rd partner in the whole thing. That just doesn't happen in other shows.

The scene in the Comic Book room w/no air, and the trust issues and the protecting each other -- Neal giving up the air device, Peter wating with his gun at the ready to blow away the guy on the other side of the gate and defend his partner-- even though he would have been completely outgunned, he was ready to die for Neal. Who, to anyone else besides probably Elizabeth and Mozzie is just some con who faked his way into a deal. That's love loyalty.

Peter completely and utterly marking Neal as his with Kate, claiming Neal more than once and telling her to GTFO and leave Neal alone for good. Talking about how he's tired of seeing Neal hurt, and even asks if she ever loved him-- in a tone implying that he just might. I think the only way he could have marked Neal any more as his would be to either make out with him in front of her or piss all over him.

Mozzie is not very surprised to find that Neal took his tracker back. (Also, running right back into the arms of Peter.)

And OMG. The previews? Elizabeth is involved. AGAIN. And is trying to get Neal and Mozzie to steal something to save Peter's ass.

Come on people. You can't tell me that the OT3 in this show isn't so glaringly obvious. The slash would be epic enough, but then you add Elizabeth into the mix and the things she does and says and it completely becomes an OT3. (Which I wouldn't have believed myself until I saw it....)

Am I the only one who is OMG *flail* about the whole thing?
