Yeah yeah, I'm slow. Been busy....
I finally made it to
Grand Central Terminal. It's still relatively early, so the city is relatively quiet, (Note the relatively) and it's like... maybe 10amish? I have to be back at the hotel at 1230 to get dressed and to the venue for the 2pm show of "Of Thee I Sing", which is pretty much the reason I got to go in the first place. Time becomes important later. (Not to mention this proves that I've only barely made it halfway through the trip.)
Anyway, Grand Central Terminal is really neat. It's big and airy, lots of marble and windows and ornate metal. The HIGH arched celings and simple elegance definitely added to the grandeur. I snapped of a LOT of shots, but unfortunately most seemed to not turn out. I tried to get a good shot of these
open rooms that branched off just from the entrance. They were closed off at the moment, and they looked like they had a bunch of artisan booths in them. Not sure if it was a constant fixture or what. There were constellations painted onto the celing of the main area, and I thought that was REALLY COOL. I tried to take shots of the
main area, but they didn't' turn out as well as I would have liked, especially one being
so dark.
After nosing around the building a bit, I walked back towards the nearest tour bus stop to ride it downtown to see more of what I didn't the day before and eventually get uptown by the hotel like it did the day before. I *should* have been fine....
