To stop, would only be accepting victory

Endless Search

I search through emotions,
Digging through the pile, throwing those useless out of the way,
I look for that one, that is pure, and essential,
So true, yet never there when you look,
Its fluidity, belies its place, its shape and form,
When you are looking right at it, straight on,
You’ll look right by, mistaking it for something less,
Useless, it seems, but it isn’t, for its beauty,
Its core cures all disease, all pain, all misery,
And I can’t find it, I look and look,
I check all those worthless pieces, to see if it’s in disguise,
But to no avail, I cannot find the ambrosia of the soul,
It is because right now I don’t have it in my grasp,
I want it so much, but I can’t hold on, ever fleeing,
Why it struggles from me, I don’t understand,
I just want to hold it, and never let go,
But that isn’t what others want…
Others just place it upon the pile, neglect, their best friend,
Those looking never find it, those finding are never looking,
But I continue my elusive search,
For I don’t need to be loved, I just need love…
