sometimes i have these great ideas that would that should be put to type, in some kind of fully fleshed out, witty, vice/chunklet, twenty-something talk. my foil for all of these ideas is that i can never get beyond a short mental paragraph before i feel like my point's been proven. or i've run out of steam. so i'm going to present a few of these "ideas/titles" with some explanation.
I. Why Hip Hop Didn't Suck in '96 but Sucked in [Insert Year]
Play on DJ Shadow track, which i have yet to hear. The year doesn't matter, since anyone could make a case as to why 96 was the shit and any year of hip hop sucked.
II. Songs That Should be Sampled
each installment brings a group of songs that haven't (to author's knowledge) been sampled. this idea came from the fact that i think someone needs to sample the rolling stones "monkey man" opening piano and richard's guitar
III. Why No One Really Loves The Smiths
this is just based on my opinion that they are the one and only band you can namedrop and not be scoffed at (except by me). i recently came up with an analogy to how the smiths are like smoking cigarettes. you do it first to appear cool. next thing you know you're smoking (listening) religiously, even though you know they're not good for you. and your friends that care about you are telling you to get off them and you're saying "i know i know i don't even like morrissey's voice but i just can't help myself."
IV. Songs Ruined by Morrissey's Singing
this idea was after listening to the smiths "what difference does it make?" and listening to his high-pitched squealing during the last minute of the song. of course that means a committee would have to form and judge the entire smiths/morrissey/collaboration collection, which i have zilch care to do.
V. Seasonal Albums
this is because i only seem to listen to magnetic fields 69 love songs when the leaves are falling and spoon's kill the moonlight when spring semester is ending. i think the pixies are a summer band.
VI. Myspace People You Gotta Be Friend's With!!
myspace profiles are listed and in-depth reasoning as to why you should be friends with them, even though they though the mentioned profiles suck and you'd be a tool for adding them. the first featured profile would be Tom and this one.
so who wants to start another run of the mill zine with nothing new to say?
