plan for self improvement

Oct 20, 2005 01:12

Well I'm not even a complete day into the beginning of my plan and already I feel as though it is having an effect. Seeing as I've been especially inefficient lately and there are many other things not related to school or leisure that I would like to get done I've begun instituting a simple but hopefully effective plan for self improvement. Every day I shall dedicate a certain amount of time to learning Russian (I've been falling behind a bit in class*) learning Japanese, drawing, excercise, and challenging my mind in one way or another (this is somewhat directed at getting myself to play go more often). Well today has been pretty sweet. I still need to get some drawing done, as well as some work for school, but I already know a i e u o ka ki ke ku ko in hirigana**, and I know the Russian for my quiz tomorrow much more thoroughly and stresslessly (new word of the day) than for any previous quiz this year.

Anyway one of the things I'm going to be up doing is finishing up my website draft to hand in tomorrow, which means it's that much closer to replacing the abomination that currently resides at www.railroadtosomewhere.com. Knowing me there's a 50% chance I'll actually put it up tonight. I can rather easily see myself either not doing it out of laziness or doing it to put off finishing Russian and/or going to bed.

also some more fun links for y'all that ah found

Amazing photography blog with lots of pics of Nihon!

international voyeurism to the MAX!

* By falling back I mean my grades are fine well within the B and up range but conversationally I feel I could be doing much better.
** btw Alex do you know if there's any relation between the words hirigana and hiigara? I mean since hiigara is meant to mean home world or something like that and hirigana is the word for Japan's alphabet for native words I figured there might be a connection.
