Damn Portlanders

A big hello and how are you from Portland, Oregon! I'm out here visiting my sister, Chloe, and brother-in-law, Mark. Portland is a pretty sweet city. What's really awesome, is that there are a bunch of zombie-bums that shuffle around the city and they're really very friendly, and totally not creepy at all.

Chloe and Mark live in the basement of an apartment building. At night, people walk by on the sidewalk right outside, and look into their apartment windows, and are all, "Look! There are people in there!" Yeah, what a surprise! It's an apartment building!!

So after I got in yesterday, Chloe took me to "The Bins," which is a Goodwill OUTLET. How hilarious is that?! A Goodwill that sells stuff that the other Goodwills couldn't. Best part is, they sell it by the pound, so a whole pound of shit that you want to buy is only $1.39. The people that go to The Bins make a living off of good finds that they sell at flea markets, or on ebay or something. I should have taken a picture; when there is a bin about to come out from being filled, people will line up on the lines where the bin is going to be placed. When the bin comes out, people rush at the stuff inside of it, and will even knock eachother out of the way. I was waiting to see this one obese lady put her weight into it when she saw some other woman eyeing a set of cheap metal bathroom drawers. Unfortunately, nothing happened. I think I was more entertained by the amount of people at The Bins than the stuff I found.

I'm now on an unplanned diet this week; everyone in portland is a vegetarian, vegan, or into organic foods. I basically have been eating lentils, brown rice, pasta, and pico de gallo for the last 24 hours. That, I'm sure, will continue on for the rest of the week. Don't be surprised if you see me looking all emaciated when I get back Saturday.

More to come.
