Did you hear about the time Chuck Norris was confronted by a problem and he solved it with a roundhouse kick, despite the fact that the particular problem was one not usually considered solvable by roundhouse kicks? And a bunch of college kids found it hilarious

Another reason I like that movie comes from my own filmmaking days (I'm heartsick saying that in the past tense, but you know ... dreams, they die hard. Maybe I'll get back into it when my back heals and I develop a little capital ... maybe ... ) Having worked on independant films and taken a lot of real hands-on education in the field (as opposed to the usual college shit, which is just watching movies and then bullshitting about them, and then you get to go into the 'advanced' stuff, where the equipment is lying around but you're not allowed to really USE any of it because it's too expensive to risk having 'amateurs' touch it, and other such crap ... no, I not only know what a C-stand is, I know how to use one -- and if you've ever seen a C-stand you'll know that's a bit of a feat. The C-stand exists to devour unwary aspiring film techs, I swear.) I am fucking amazed with what they managed to do with their budget. Night of the Living Dead is another movie that won massive bonus points with me for that same reason. IMO you can't really appreciate filmmaking on a whole until you do it, really actively participate and what those two directors acheived with their limited resources is nothing short of incredible to me. So I sit there watching all this stuff and think, "He did this with HOW much again? Fuuuuuck."
I've made some minor miracles on no budget, too, but nothing remotely comperable in my view. (And unfortunately I don't even have the tapes of my best field work ... the guy who called me up to shoot it does. I have to get that shit from him sometime, come to think of it.)
Also: Ahahahahahahaha. Yes, it's Sex in the City. That's one phenomenon that's bypassed me utterly, as I don't watch TV pretty much at all. The only popular TV shows that I've ever gotten interested in were Law and Order and CSI. And CSI only because my brother's ex-girlfriend left some of her season DVDs over here once and I watched the entirety of third season on a night of bad insomnia and, of course, got completely caught up in everything due to the massive New Plot/New Character overdose.
I still can't be bothered to go out of my way to catch either on TV tho'.
Be careful, dude... you could write a doctoral thesis on this subject, seriously. "Shit College Students Vastly Overrate" ... I'm thinking a minimum of six hundred pages.
