It's hard to expect our teens to withstand bullying and be themselves rather than kill themselves, when this sort of thing happens and grownups at impartial non-partisan community newpapers can't even stand up to bullying by one constituency:

Aren't they cute? Justin was in Bye Bye Birdie with me when he was a freshman. Sweet, gentle, and kind. He and Avi are adorable together, very much in love.
Now, the pathetic cowtowing apology assuring that the Jewish Standard will never cause "pain" again by publishing an announcement of two like-minded, loving Jews bringing holiness into their relationship. Never mind the pain they've just caused all of the other same-sex couples and their friends:

On the one hand this makes me sad and tired of fighting.
On the other hand it makes me vow to never give up the fight that is making me so tired.
Fitting that Leonard Cohen's Halleluyah came on to Pandora as I read about this. It reflects the mixture of joy at this wedding tempered by a deep melancholy I feel over this. I just want to be joyful.
