I have no words for the horrible situation in the Gulf Coast.
This is an email from one of my old co-workers. It really reminds me to be thankful.
We have found my mom and she’s ok. She’s about three hours away from New Orleans. Other than that, everything my family has in New Orleans is gone. We have a two story mini mall there where business is below and residential on top. The business is now a big pool. Flood waters are rising. Looting has left my house with nothing. My mom’s car is buried underneath. In a couple of days, officials are letting residents with LA id’s to re-entering to collect belongings and then are forced to leave and stay away for a month. This is catastrophic. Please spread the word over there to please help and donate to the Red Cross or any organizations to help rebuild the city. Insurance can only cover so much. My friends and family there lost everything. I can’t help but get phone calls with them saying there’s nothing to go back to. They have no where to go but somewhere else. I was watching live feed from the local news station there; a guy with the search and rescue team stated that all those helping are seeing bodies floating around. But it’s to search and rescue those alive and get them out of there and to leave the bodies there. The bridges and to get to New Orleans and out of New Orleans are completely destroyed. I-10 goes straight through New Orleans and it’s completely destroyed. My family that are vacationing there from CA cannot get back because they can’t even get into the city to leave. Water is entering the city and FEMA can’t figure out where it’s coming from. So please pray for those to survive. Pray that those that are in the Superdome can get out and get water and food. Pray that the elders who stayed back are safe. Pray that everyone can rebuild their lives after this. Donate and help. It’s tragic and depressing.
