Trivia:
*This was the first time I had seen Don't Drink, Seek Up, Raven, Loving Wings, The Idea of You, Anyone Seen The Bridge, Can't Stop, or Butterfly. Considering this was my 5th show, I was really pleasantly surprised that 8/20 songs were songs I had not heard live before.
*The Idea of You and Can't Stop are new songs for this tour.
*This was the first time in about 115 shows that they had played Loving Wings, and about 70 shows since they played Butterfly.
*This was the first time Alfredo Ballesteros (Saxophone) has ever joined the band on stage.
*If you count from the time they came on stage through the end of the encore, the show was almost 3 hours.
Cons:
*It was really cool to have so many horns, but sometimes all three would solo on top of each other, which lead to some messy sounds. Sometimes I just wished they only had one person solo at a time. And other times, Rashawn would solo, Ballesteros would solo, and when LeRoi (an actual band member)would solo the other two would add in, which just muddled LeRoi's moment and made an awkwardly bad sound.
*I have yet to hear Ants Marching.
Pros:
*This was my 5th Dave show and it was hands down and without a doubt the best show I'd ever seen. This show, though, seemed to be designed to appeal to the long-time fan. They only played 4 radio hits, so a "radio" fan would not have had a good time and would have been rather bored. Nevertheless, there were 3 huge jam songs that lasted at least 21 minutes each (Seek Up 23:39, Jimi Thing 21:33, Two Step 22:44). Each one rocked.
*There was a great mix of really old stuff and really new stuff. The old songs rocked, the new songs were incredible. I really like "The Idea of You" and I'm so glad they played it.
*Jimi Thing, one of the big jams, was just incredible. Even on the band's website, they noted that the band said that this performance may have been the best they had ever done.
*Two Step with Robert Randolph on electric slide guitar was phenomenal. In the middle of Randolph's solo, I turned to Ben and said "Hey, none of the horn people are there." Sure enough, they just found their way off stage for seemingly no reason. Then, right before they were supposed to come back in, they strolled to their mics and blasted. The version was so incredibly intense, my friend Ben and I just stood there with our jaws open for a solid 5 minutes. Okay, it was the encore break, but we were just dumbfounded with how they could possibly follow that song up. Ben even said "Man, after that, I need a cigarette."
Overall:
*Best show ever. The Shoreline show has a high bar to meet, but for that show, the company is more important the music(I'm going with Becky and Eric).
