all day diagnosis today. got a patient and a diag summative outta it=). feel really badly for the patient. 17 yr old girl born w/ hiv and cuz of it has incredibly dry mouth which has lead to every single one of her teeth having a huge carious lesion. when i saw her lower anterior teeth, i had to take a moment to compose myself before saying anything. they're in really bad shape. plus she's dentalphobic(she says no dentist has ever touched her teeth and as evidenced by her teeth, i believe her). hope she'll come in and start treatment. that must be horrible as a child and learning that you have the hiv virus just by being born=(. just very sad. she appears normal tho. healthy looking, happy(at least when i wasn't taking her xrays or checking out her teeth) and like every other 17 yr old out there. gonna try to do everything i can.
alotta the seniors are gonna be taking the nerbs(northeast regional boards) this weekend and are really scrambling for patients. all our charts have been looked thru to look for certain cavities of certain sizes and patients that have perio problems. some are really panicked cuz they don't have a backup or even a patient. hope they all do well. hope this won't be me next year.
hung out at barbara's office after being let outta diagnosis early. found out even tho she has tons of work to do, that she loves reading too. gonna bring her the pleasure of my company and claire marvel on monday. she let me borrow her 3cd set of simon and garfunkel and says she'll bring me some mystery books to read on monday. barbara is awesome.
just great, i have a cold. nose has been leaking like crazy since i got home. not coughing that much and don't feel too bad, but bad enough. i just wadded up all the used tissues i have on my desk and i need 2 hands to hold it. my nose is getting pretty raw=(.
