Thank you for the kind words! I think this story is fated to forever annoy me, because of the last part which screams cobbled together in a panicky hurry to make an ending, after it all seemed to start out quite promisingly - but then I rather think that's how Remus must view the whole of his PoA year...? ;)

So, before any last minute cobbling took place, it was very nice to write Remus at this time, as I've always wanted to, and even nicer to hear that it seems to make sense for you that this is how he'd feel and act. I'm glad you like the scene with Ginny, I actually had another one planned and perhaps one day can come back to it. I'm also rather sorry that we never got to see these two interact in canon.

it's also such a fitting sign of Remus allowing himself to start to feel that he does belong there at Hogwarts

Even allowing for Harry not being the world's most reliable narrator, I always think that Remus reads as though he's at home straight away and, unlike Hagrid, makes an immediate impact as a teacher for all the right reasons. He must have been full of hope at that stage, even knowing Sirius was out there.

(By the way, I don't know if I've ever mentioned it, but I did actually have a student write an (excellent) exam in pirate speak once. ;) I laughed as hard as Remus does.)

LOL! No, I didn't know that. I hope he got top marks from Professor Shimotuski for both brains and imagination! :)

Thank you very much for such lovely comments. They are much appreciated!
