You know I was so happy when you said that your idea for this challenge was Remus during PoA. This is such an interesting period in his life.

There are so many things I like about this, like Ginny and Remus both standing outside in the rain with their bad and good memories, unable to go inside. The awkwardness in the staff room that is dispelled (as well as it could be) by Remus himself and kindhearted colleagues. Snape not being a cake person! Dazzling* Lockhart.

But mostly I loved how you showed that this year must have been both one of the best Remus lived through in a long time, secure as you say, for both him and the wolf, but also very trying, since this would be the one place where he would be unable to keep from thinking about another happy time and all that went wrong since then. Which was of course exacerbated by the fact that Sirius was on the loose... And how that dreadful prank Sirius pulled on Snape kept coming back, because perhaps it showed what he really was capable of doing? I love the list of questions Remus tries not to think about, because they really make no sense with the version of the story that Remus knows. And he has stopped thinking about them to stop hoping that perhaps there was a mistake.. Poor poor Remus. Luckily he has George to hand in essays in pirate speech! LOL! And I'm glad I know how it ends, and that those awful doubts can be put to rest. Even if they are traded for some horrifying truths..

Thank you for sharing this. It brightened my day (though there was a notable lack of towels in it... ;))

PoA is such a fascinating period in Remus' life - my big regret is that I only covered about the first two months of it! I never even got to teaching Harry, or a planned snarky conversation with Snape, or even the Marauders' Map, though I suppose it's good excuse to try and return sometime, lol.

It is lovely to hear you enjoyed reading the parts I did manage to cover. Like you say, I think this must have been very nearly the best time possible for Remus, with such a lot apparently within his grasp, including a longed-for career, except that the faces and memories of the past are never very far away and some are about to literally turn up in person. And it was great to write him happy, and so happy teaching; in fact, relishing every moment, even when confronted with essays by pirates.

I was going for the Best Superfluous Use Of 'Dazzle' Award. ;) Though I do think Lockhart probably naturally sparkled quite a bit. LOL.

I know. This lack will be addressed shortly after a brief HP writing break. Or undressed shortly? ;)

Many thanks for such nice comments. I hope you know how much I appreciate them. :)
