Oh, please write more of this! I want to see what they write back and forth to each other. Or what they do, since I think I know two people who are writing a fic that involves Remus and Tonks writing back and forth to each other. ;)

This is so lovely; for one thing, I think your observations about the art of letter-writing are so thoughtful and perfect for the characters. And for another, I have a huge weakness for Remus writing love-letters...I think if he wrote "Nymphadora" to me, I wouldn't complain about it. ;)

Sigh. Such a nice Friday treat!

I am writing more of this - it's called Between the Lines, and it's with a new author called mrstater. ;) After this scene, Remus goes on a mission for the Order, and decides to send Tonks a postcard from the Lakes as he knows she likes his writing...

But seriously! Thank you.:D I love doing fics that involve these two writing to each other as it seems to suit Remus, in particular, so well, by being able to take a risk to put himself out there emotionally, but still holding back by not actually saying it out loud. And I love to think, like you, that seeing "Nymphadora" written down would get under her skin in quite a different way. Which he's banking on, lol.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Who's she, then, and why's she posting fics at my LJ? ;)

I second mrstater in wanting more of this! I love how Tonks is counting how long they've known each other (I bet Remus is, too!). I love how much thought Remus puts into his writing and I love, I love, I LOVE how she replies. Sigh.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Glad you liked it - this was such fun to write, and I do think they carried on putting on paper/parchment what they couldn't put into words for some little time to come. Till someone lost patience with all that, lol.

Thanks very much.:D

*sigh* A perfectly enjoyable read for a Friday evening!

This so perfectly captures one of the aspects of the R/T relationship that always grabs me -- the idea that they might be quietly watching each other, studying habits and expressions and so on, and gradually inching toward the idea that the other one might be doing that too. I love this Remus, willing to take a risk and then afraid that he's made a mistake; and I love this Tonks, feeling surer and surer of things as she sees the way Remus is heading.

The theme of words/paper/ink/reading works so nicely, too, with lots of different dimensions woven through the story. Remus's thoughts about writing letters are a wonderful way to show how careful he is about understanding people. But I think I like the paper airplane best, for what it shows about Remus and what it does for Tonks. :)

I'm very glad you enjoyed this as you've mentioned the very reasons it was such fun to write. I always like the idea of them wondering about and watching the other so carefully for a while - and finally resorting to unconventional means to put themselves out there to see if the other feels the same. I seem to have a fondness for Remus being the one to do it, too, as I always think it fits with him blaming himself so much later on...

But not here! I'm glad you liked the paper aeroplane, too, as I thought it would both show Tonks he's the man she suspects he is (and possibly even more) and be a very Remus-like thing to do whilst sat at his grand desk. After all, it's only the best people who get distracted. ;)

Thank you. :)

Oh Boy! Did I ever pick the right day to pop in on LJ!

I love your carefully playful Remus and swoon at the very thought of a man who smells "like the pages of a well-loved book." *sigh*

Have a lovely holiday!

Hello - it's very nice to see you!:D How are things?

Thank you very much for the comments; it was almost totally self-indulgent to write Remus like this, lol, so it's great when someone enjoys it in return.

Also I had a very nice holiday, thanks. It's just the coming back that's the pain. ;)

Squee! Was so happy to see my name attached to this in some small way!. I think it is completely possible that Remus' Pheromones would smell like vellum and ink!

I really love the line about
Tonks looking immediately at home anywhere! I can imagine that that would be something that Remus would find really attractive in her, since he's seldom felt it himself.
I think Remus is really like those letters. Tonks really has to read those innerspaces to get the whole story!
Thanks so much!

Am so glad you liked this as it was very enjoyable to write - and I'm also glad you squinted hard to see the prompt, lol. I liked the idea of them both wanting to say things out loud, but neither quite being secure enough to do so and resorting to the written words (and the unwritten ones;)) is so much easier.

Plus there's something about Remus smelling of books and ink that greatly appeals to me and Tonks... ;)

Thank you very much for enjoying it, and the idea!:D
