But this isn't too bad a place to pause. ;)

Why, you evil cliffhanger-writer, you! ;)

This is just beautiful, even though of course it's sad too, and there are hard things here. The whole story has a quiet somber tone that's just right for the kind of exhaustion the characters must all be feeling. And the gentle way that Remus and Tonks are drawing ever closer together (well, until that last bit before the cliffie, lol) is compelling, and, again, beautiful.

You've also set up a believable complex background here, which is just as it must have been, with the Order having to restructure itself (love the idea of Remus quietly stepping up to a leadership role as he works out that he's got old experience and recent knowledge that others don't), and the Ministry being ridiculous, and people agitating about Dark Creatures. I take it from what Remus says at the end that someone literally did say something to him about keeping his paws off Tonks, with spectacularly bad timing, heh.

The image you've drawn of the pink and white blossoms is a perfect background for that wonderful kiss (and oh, do I love the idea of Tonks discovering that Remus is all passion behind that careful mask :) ) -- and at the same time a poignant setting for Tonks's bitter disappointment at the very end.

I'm so glad you decided to write this -- it's fun to read a fic that takes advantage of the new information from the bio. And it makes me very happy to know you've got more planned to come. Including that wonderful scene of a stealth wedding in Scotland!

ETA: Meant to say, that even though we haven't seen the rain yet, that's a nice evocative title, too. :)

Aagh, I'm sorry for taking so long to reply. Can I blame my extra laundry activities and the mess this last week or so seems to have been? But this is the kind of review that makes the hair-tearing I did at the start of this worthwhile, and then some. Thank you so much for that.

The 'believable complex background' you referred to has had me giving a somewhat rueful smile. Originally, I planned to make this simpler, and shorter, and concentrate solely on the reconciliation between Remus and Tonks, and how they went on from there. But I'd done almost exactly that before, and there must have been so much going on for the Order in the days after Dumbledore's death, which affected them both, that it seemed too good an opportunity to waste. Besides, if I'm going by the bio, R/T are not only having to contend with getting to know each other as lovers as well as friends in a relatively short timescale, but everything around them is changing at speed as well.

I take it from what Remus says at the end that someone literally did say something to him about keeping his paws off Tonks, with spectacularly bad timing, heh.

...Sort of. ;) I may have been a little unfair to him where I've ended this, but when it returns to his POV, hopefully you'll get to see what has triggered more doubts.

(and oh, do I love the idea of Tonks discovering that Remus is all passion behind that careful mask :) )

:D I always felt he must be!

Thank you SO much for your thoughtful and generous feedback. It means a lot. And for all things lunar-related!
