Shape Run 2019 - We Run the World

Aug 30, 2019 20:50

Hey people!

I've got to admit - I haven't ran in a long while.

There was a year when I was super active in running events, participating in them every few months. Now, I can't believe that the last time I ran was actually a year ago. Urgh... let me drown myself in guilt. :S

This year, I'm thankful that Jessie brought me along for Shape Run 2019, serving as a timely reminder that I need to 'shape up' for my wedding.

So there I was at Kallang Practice Track last weekend, waiting to be flagged off at 7am for the 5km run. I reached the event early enough to even join in a short warm-up session before the run.

We were flagged off by 'Ang Ku Kueh Girl' mascot, who is the designer of our Shape Run 2019 tote bag.

The goodie bag that we received this year was indeed the BEST RACE PACK EVER. Not only was the tote bag super adorable (you wouldn't want to chuck it away, trust me!), it was filled with many useful and regular-size products worth more than $250. We were so pampered!

At the sound of the horn, off we went! We started off running along the road, before turning into a park.

By the way, I'm loving the pretty coral shade of the Shape Run 2019 race tank, which really flatters our Asian skin tone. I normally turn my past race tanks into home wear, but I'm willing to make an exception for this one. So gonna re-wear it for future fitness events!

My motivation during the run? Making a quick stop at the hydration points to quench my thirst with 100 plus.

Along the way, I spotted these ladies in their 'Run to Bond' tanks, holding on and pacing with another runner.

I then realized that these ladies are volunteers from Running Hour who were running along with visually impaired participants. It's heartwarming to learn that there is a community out there who is so inclusive to the people with physical disabilities. Well done to them for completing the race too!

Spot these ladies with their lime green tanks, bumblebee socks and balloons?

They are the pacers who will run past the rest of the runners while cheering 'Let's go! You can do it!'. Mannnn... they have so much stamina!

Since I have not ran for a year, the 5km route felt long to me, but I have never been happier to cross the finishing line!

My treats - a can of cold 100 plus, baked almonds and my very girly finisher medal!

Explored the race village after that and tried F&N Magnolia's latest Fresh Milk with Kurma. How refreshing! The dates gave the milk a natural sweetness too.

This was my breakfast - Kelloggs' Special K Vanilla Almond and Oats & Honey, and I like to have my cereal without MILK.

The Shape Run organizers actually gave us a large box of cereal in our race pack this year!

I was SO CLOSE to winning a retail-size shower foam from Eversoft! *wails*

Nonetheless, the staff was still sweet enough to give me a travel size tube of Eversoft Bamboo Charcoal Cleanser as a token of participation.

Did 39 push-ups within 1 minute to win myself a pouch and a sports towel from TFX.

I happen to also have a 1-week pass from TFX so I will be visting this new gym soon. I'm already very enticed by their wide variety of fitness activities so I hope I can try as many as possible.

So happy to bump into all my friends at the race village, so that calls for lots of photos!

We were missing Jasmine, who had to leave with her husband and kid right after the run.

I've got another fitness event waiting for me tomorrow with another group of girlfriends and I am looking forward to it!

Hopefully, my fitness events and upcoming gym activities will kickstart my fitness journey again. :)
