Boost Your Skin's Hydration with For Beloved One Advanced Hyaluronic Acid GHK-CU Moisturising Series

Apr 08, 2019 23:13

Hey people!

Whenever I go for facials, one of the most common thing I will hear is 'Your skin's very dry. You need more hydration'. It used to be 'Your skin's so oily' during my younger days but as I age, it seems like I have traded my pimply, greasy skin for dehydrated skin instead. Oh well, it's a happy problem for me.

That's why I was more than happy to begin my skincare journey with For Beloved One and embark on its latest range, the Advanced Hyaluronic Acid GHK-CU Moisturising Series.

Hailing from Taiwan, this brand was founded by Ms Margaret Wu in 2003, who used to be the director of an international beauty magazine. The brand has since expanded to Asia and even Western countries like Australia and Canada. I've seen their products in Sephora long ago and personally own their eye and face masks. In fact, I used them few days before my pre-wedding photoshoot so that my skin could glow before the cameras. #BestDecisionEver!

What's special about the Advanced Hyaluronic Acid GHK-Cu Moisturising Series is that they contain 4 types of Hyaluronic Acid with different molecular sizes. The smaller the molecular size, the deeper it can penetrate into the skin layer. This allows the moisture-boosting ingredient to reach every single layer of the skin. The Hyaluronic Acid is complemented with the combination of GHK-CU (a copper peptide) and Copper Gluconate which reduce wrinkles and increase the skin's ability to lock moisture.

The product also utilises Active Hydro-Kinetic technology, a self-hydrating mechanism to draw moisture from the bottom layer of the skin to its surface continuously, akin to a water pump. This enables the skin to replenish its moisture 24/7. To experience its effects optimally, you should end off your skincare regime by drinking a glass of water so that more moisture can be pumped to your skin surface. Very interesting!

So how exactly do you use the products?

Step 1: Pat your skin gently with Moisturizing Toner (S$63)

Besides the amazing qualities mentioned above, this toner is supplemented with pure clean deep ocean water to supplement the skin with additional minerals.

I normally use a facial cotton to apply toners but I have to admit that it does contribute to some product wastage. Thus, for this toner, I'd say you save every precious drop by using your bare hands to pat the product gently into your skin till absorption. I could totally feel my skin drinking up the toner instantaneously.

Step 2: Apply Moisturising Serum ($68)

I never used to bother with serums but now, it is an essential product in my skincare routine. When you get past your 30s, you will realize that simply using toner and moisturiser just do not cut it. Your skin needs a product that is concentrated enough to reach the dermis of your skin, and powerful enough to nourish it extensively with moisture and minerals.

The Moisturising Serum from this range is known as the 'Petit Hydra Babe' simply because it contains a perfect ratio and concentration of Hyaluronic Acid and GHK-CU. Both ingredients work hand in hand to facilitate maximise skin absorption and moisture retention abilities, so that your skin stays supple the entire day. I love the smell of this serum too!

Step 3: Hydrate with Moisturising Lotion ($60)

I don't know whether you noticed, but the lotion has a tinge of blue in it.

This lotion contains squaline, which is a highly moisturing ingredient that can lock moisture, giving you that soft, dewy complexion that you desire. If your skin feels sufficiently moisturised at this point, you can actually stop at Step 3, but if you need a further moisture boost, you can move on to Step 4.

Personally, I use the Moisturising Lotion as a day moisturiser while I use the Moisturising Surge Cream as a night moisturiser, simply because I do not like to pile on too many products in my skincare routine. Even though For Beloved One products are non-comedogenic, keeping my skincare routine to a few simple steps works the best for my skin.

As the Moisturising Lotion was super lightweight against my skin, I felt that it was suitable for day use as it allowed me to apply makeup over a smooth canvas thereafter. The Moisturising Surge Cream was more useful at night to protect my skin from becoming dehydrated overnight under the air-conditioner.

Step 4: Get a further moisture boost with Moisturising Surge Cream ($95)

Speaking of Moisturising Surge Cream, I thought it was so cool when the cream turns into tiny water molecules upon contact with the skin, giving the skin that added boost of moisture.

The Moisturising Surge Cream is also infused with other hydrating ingredients such as:

- Aquaphyline, which forms a protective layer over the skin surface to retain moisture; and
- Malachite Essence, a copper-rich ingredient that locks moisture in skin for a prolonged period of time.

This is by far my favourite product out of the range. I love how healthy my skin looks the next day and I hope these products will last long enough for my big day.

Step 5: Drink a glass of water

Done with your skincare routine already? Drink a glass of water, please!

Or if you're a water guzzler like me, you can drink a bottle of water! Water is your best friend at this point because it will help to optimise the effects of the products and pump moisture onto your skin's surface. Your skin will thank you in the future.

Every twice a month: Pamper your skin with Moisturising Bio-cellulose Mask ($63 for 3 pieces)

I've always remembered these masks for being pricey, simply because one piece will set you back by $21. Nonetheless, they really work wonders so that's why I plan to reserve a piece for my wedding! I need a flawless, radiant and camera-ready face on my big day.

This is the world's first bio-cellulose mask and if you don't know what that is, let me explain. A bio-cellulose mask is made of VERY THIN but VERY STRONG natural fibers. In terms of texture, it feels slightly 'rubbery' and firm. It is also hydrophilic and has the amazing power to hold 100x more water.

The essence on the mask penetrates the skin deeply and gets absorbed by the skin very well, rejuvenating and renewing your complexion in the process. It also has the perfect affinity with your skin and does not slip and slide when you are wearing it. Although it is heavy on the pockets, it remains a holy grail product for many people.

Some people mask a few days in a week but I usually mask once a week. With the Moisturising Bio-cellulose Mask, you don't actually have to use it so frequently. Due to its long lasting effects, using it once every 2 weeks is suffice.
