Event: Media Launch for Wellness Day Out + A Peek into My Wellness Subscription Box

Jun 25, 2017 21:00

Good day!

Few days back, I was invited by The Wellness Insider to attend the Media Launch of Wellness Day Out.

The Wellness Insider is a platform that promotes body confidence. It started in October 2016 and this is the first time that they are launching Wellness Day Out - a 3 day holistic wellness festival which comprises a series of workshops on fitness, beauty and health.

That's the founder of The Wellness Insider, Ms Melissa Fann doing a live stream of the launch. She looked great in that stylish outfit. :)

We started the launch by watching an insightful video titled '#NoLabels', featuring some of the hurtful remarks that were received by everyday people on their bodies. Some common labels mentioned were being 'too fat', 'too short' or 'too thin'.

Although I've never been labelled in terms of weight or height, I had a fair share of criticism during my secondary school days when I was picked on by my classmates for being 'too dark'. I had tanned skin then due to swimming classes so classmates would call me 'Devi' (an Indian name) for fun, followed by a slew of racist jokes. I was told that I would look better only if I was fairer and it ate into my self-esteem. Thus, the tagline 'Get to Know the Real Person' is particularly important in reminding all of us that we should not be too quick to judge someone.

After the video, we got to enjoy an activewear fashion show, modelled by the contestants from DreamGirl SG.

DreamGirl SG is Singapore's only competition for petite girls, and it's interesting to me because I always thought that it would be really cool if Singapore has their own version of 'America's Next Top Petite Model'. I guessed it really happened.

So who says petite girls can't model? These ladies were totally rocking their leggings from FUNFIT Singapore while showing the audience how to transform their outfit from sporty to chic. I love it!

The contestants from DreamGirl SG with Miss Fiona Tan (lady in white in the middle), who won the international title of Ms Top of the World Plus Size 2016.

Fiona demonstrates that plus size ladies can look sophisticated with the right outfits too. I love her confidence!

Guests who were interested in the FUNFIT leggings could head over to its stall at the Wellness Bazaar to check them out. Their prints are gorgeous!

At the Wellness Bazaar, I also noticed a stall selling Batik products and they looked really exotic.

The Batik products were created by artists from Indonesia. As part of the Wellness Day Out, these artists would be conducting Batik workshops for both children and adults.

The event also marked the launch of the Wellness Subscription Box which was done in partnership with social enterprise, Euforia Singapore.

These Wellness Boxes contain products such as perfumes, healthy food and sample beauty products. Priced at $20 per box, they will be available for sale on The Wellness Insider's Online Store after the event.

Best of all, part of the profits from the sale of The Wellness Subscription Box will go to charity!

Let's take a look at the contents of the box, shall we?

The first thing that I spotted was the Cocomax Coconut Water, which I drank immediately after taking this picture. Don't judge - I was too thirsty!

Coco Veda, a brand from The Philippines also sponsored some coconut products to benefit our skin and body. Thank you!

Was happy to receive a packet of healthy Hom Mali Mixed Brown and Red Rice from Naturel. I'll definitely use this on the days when I need to prepare my own meals. :)

Oh yes, shoutout to Jetaime Perfumery, Blended Singapore, 100% Pure and Bali Secret for the beauty and shower products too!

I attended 2 meaningful workshops at Wellness Day Out the following day but I'll save it for another entry.

Meanwhile, thank you for reading and stay tuned for my next entry on the workshops! Have a great long weekend!
