Pantheacon
I'm not going.
Just over a week from when I sent in my Registration and I've discovered that I can't make it to Pantheacon this year.
The long and the short of it is this; I was counting on my friend Bill to take care of the plane tickets. He had offered to use his frequent flyer miles to get us to San Jose. Unfortunately Fate had other plans. I talked to Bill today and found out that his apartment had recently been broken into. Needless to say this took any travel plans for Bill off the table for a while.
I looked into the cost of going by myself, but between the cost of airfare and hotel rooms it was putting a real strain on my budget. I figured that I could take 2 trips to events closer to home for the amount it would cost me to fly all the way to California. Even then I was trying to convince myself that I should go, seeing as I had already paid the registration (and I'm sure I won't be able to talk them into a refund).
The final factor that made me decide to skip Pantheacon this year was Demicon. If I don't go to Pantheacon then I can definitely afford to go to Demicon, and when I checked their website I discovered that this is Demicon's 20th anniversary. This was my first convention, there's no way I'm missing a 20th anniversary party.
To everyone that I will miss seeing; I'm sorry! I miss you!
And you should all come to Minneapolis for Gaylaxicon 2009 (October 9-11th)
