Fifty years ago and counting...

We've been watching a documentary about the year 1966 this evening - lots of nostalgia there. It was a year in which a lot of things changed for me - I passed my 11+, went to grammar school, moved house, learned about a lot of things that passed me by before that. If it wasn't for the fact that the dates don't add up, I'd swear your gran was my old childminder. She wouldn't let me read and would always tell me to "find something to do!" if I ever tried. People have said to me since that maybe she thought I was only looking at the pictures and couldn't really read at all. Even leaving aside the fact that that wasn't true and I could read...is there really anything wrong with looking at the pictures? I think that's harmless. Would she really have preferred me to be running around yelling at the top of my voice, scribbling on the walls and generally making a mess? So I don't think that argument washes.

I enjoyed reading about your childhood.

1966 is notable for me because I was born! Just turned the big 5-0 yesterday, in fact. Onto the next 50!
