I have been somewhat busy with family matters, but long hours of travel do at least offer the opportunity to work out a few plot points, so it's not all wasted.

Here we are with Chapter Eighteen. Rating PG because of naughty language. 1,519 words.

Great update (and a lesson in really old English, to boot!). More meetings are undoubtedly imminent....

Thank you. I wish I could spell tricky words like eth teh the.

I have to find a use for my Anglo-Saxon studies sometime!

ooh! Interesting back-story for Witleof. I like that touch; he makes this 'verse much richer and more interesting. And I love Giles being put at that he didn't need to use his saxon. Hee! So very Giles.

Glad you liked the Dune reference. It's long been a standing joke in our family that I use my "teacher voice" on the girls sometimes, and Dave calls it my Bene Gesserit voice!

Glad you like Witleof - I just felt like using my own AS a bit, though the area I have in mind actually has much older legends than that...

Witleof sounds interesting in a not very nice way! Loved Giles being miffed not to use his Anglo-Saxon and Andrew's greeting was a classic. Enjoying this story so much :)

True - but it takes time to write in Anglo-Saxon, dammit! (I worked on getting the cases and declensions right, too. It's a complicated language.) Buffy would have got bored very quickly, too, which is not a good thing for those around her.

Witleof - "White love" in translation. Though he's anything but...
