NIGHTMARE OF A NIGHT.

Aug 08, 2008 14:08

So I'm finally posting on LiveJournal again to share with you all a new horror story of mine. I'm still super pissed off just thinking about it right now.

So myself, my twin sister Krista, and my older sister Alicia drove down to Toronto yesterday from London (approx. 3 hour drive) to go to the Molson Ampitheatre to see the Backstreet Boys in concert. No laughing, we were fans of theirs in the beginning and still are so of course we'd head down to see them live. So we get to the stadium and we wait until the opening act comes on...Girlicious, they dance around sluttily and sing a few songs. Once they're done we wait about an hour, maybe more, until the Backstreet Boys finally come on. So BSB comes on and it's cool but the seating isn't all that great and Krista, myself, and Alicia all can't see very well. I'm 4'11, short, so it was diffcult to see. I had to stand on my tippy-toes just to see the boys on stage. So these girls who are in the row behind us stand up on their chairs so they can see better so Krista and I do the same as well. It works out, we can see perfectly fine now...Alicia goes on hers but it doesn't work out very well, she has fibro myalgia, a chronic pain disorder and therefore it hurts her back to try and balance on the somewhat flimsy seat.

Next to us is one of the disabled persons seating areas. There's one guy in a wheelchair along with his girlfriend sitting beside him. Other girls who are at the concert, probably in higher up sections or sitting in the grass have come down to stand there so they can see better. So Alicia decides to go stand there too since it's a little bit more elevated and you can see perfectly fine from there. So some security guards come along and tell the girls behind us not to stand on their seats so eventually Krista and I climb down too and Alicia tells us to come stand with her so we can see. So we go over there and it's a good view, you can see the stage perfectly and everything. So we watch a song from there and then Krista goes back to our seats, which are like 3 seats away from where we're standing to grab our purses to make sure no one steals them. So we're standing there and BSB's singing one of their songs when two security guards come over to where us and other people are standing and they tell us we have to go back to our seats. So my sister Alicia complains and starts asking them what the big deal is if we're standing there, we're not blocking anyone and our actual seats are right next to this disabled persons seating area where we're standing. So the guy says something to her about how its for disabled people so we can't be there. So my sister tries to explain to the guys that she actually has a disability, fibro myalgia, and she can't stay in her actual seats cause it's hard on her back to try and keep standing on her tippy-toes just to get a glimpse of the stage. She tells the guy that she called Molson Ampitheatre and tried to get a disability pass but they wouldn't allow her to because she's not in a wheelchair, which I think is discrimination, because fibro myalgia is a disability, just because she doesn't have to always be in a wheelchair, doesnt' change that fact. So the guy's just like 'sorry but it's only for disabled people, you have to go back to your seats blah blah blah' and my sister's talking to them, not rudely, just arguing her point that it makes no difference whether we stand there and she says 'it's ridiculous' quite a few times. So the one security guard walks off to tell other people standing there to go back to their seats and so my sister talks to the other security guard and asks for his name cause we plan on making a complaint. So the guy takes out his driver's liscence and holds it out to her and Alicia goes to grab it cause she can't see it and he goes 'Don't touch it!' and pulls it away. So she says 'I can't make out your name' and he's all smarmy like 'oh well, that's your problem'. So he walks off with the other security guard and we head back to our seats.

So, we're back in our seats, and lo and behold there's STILL other people standing there. A mother and her daughter who were told to go back to their seats are STILL standing there and no one seems to give a shit. So we're like WTF and I'm thinking we're definitely going to complain because they're clearly being discriminatory against us and if they're letting those people stay then they have no right to make only us go back to our seats. So BSB are singing 'Shape of My Heart' and we're on our tippy-toes trying to see when Alicia notices that the two security guards are back and this time they've brought two police officers along with them. So she goes out to talk to them and I don't know what's said there exactly but they tell her she's being kicked out and she has to leave now. So she's like 'well wait I have to grab my stuff and I have to tell my sister's what's happening' and they're like 'no, you have to come now', but she's like 'i'm not going until I tell my sister's what's happening'. So she comes back our seats and tell us she's being escorted out. So Krista and I are like WTF, I mean this is seriously absolutely fucking ridiculous. So Alicia heads off with them and I'm like 'fuck this! I'm not just letting them escort her away' so I climb out of our row too to go with cause I'm pissed off. So I start talking to this cop being like 'what did she do? She didn't do ANYTHING, this isn't fair'. And maybe I'm being a little rude, but so what, I'm pissed off. So he beckons to me like fine you can come with too. So I'm like fine, whatever, I will come with cause this is absolute BS so I follow along and Krista grabs our purses and coats and follows us too. She's trying to talk to the one cop but he's like 'I can't hear you, wait till we get out here so we can talk'. So we get out into one of the more open parts in the stadium and Alicia's talking to the one security guard, pissed off, being like this is insane, we didn't even do anything. And the fucking dickwad of a security guard has the audacity to get up kind of our in our faces, talk in a condescending, babying, tone and wave bye in our faces saying 'bye bye' 'bye bye'. I swear to god I was ready to fucking attack him. So that just pisses us off even further. Meanwhile Krista's trying to talk to the one cop saying that Alicia did absolutely nothing wrong and he's saying something like he doesn't know what happened but apparently he heard that Alicia called the security guard an asshole and said bullshit. FIRST OF ALL, she did NO SUCH THING. She said 'it's ridiculous' 'this is ridiculous' a few times. SECONDLY, even IF SHE DID SAY asshole OR bullshit...so what? How is that such a big deal? So we're like 'omg, he's lying...she did nothing wrong etc. etc.' So we're walking out towards the front gates and they ask for Alicia's ID so she gives it to the one cop and meanwhile I'm trying to talk to the one security guard being like 'why did we get told to go back to our seats and yet you let other people still stand there.' and he's all like 'no...no, we made everybody leave' and that's pissing me off, him saying that, so I say in an exasperated tone 'no you're not! there's still tons of people standing there! How is that fair? You're being discriminatory against us.' He just ignores me...grrr....so they escort us out into the front gate, Alicia's up ahead talking with the one cop. The one security guard who was like 'bye bye' is walking with them and Alicia's like 'get him away from me, I don't want him anywhere near me' so the one head of security tells the guy to leave her alone cause it's obvious she doesn't want him anywhere near her.

Meanwhile, this other head of security is talking to Krista and I. And he's like 'you guys are allowed to stay but your friend here has to leave'. And he says friend in like this, I don't know how to describe it exactly, but almost like he's making fun of her. So that pisses me off yet again and I'm all 'She's not my friend, she's my sister!' So then he's all like 'Ma'am blah blah blah'. So I cut him off and I'm really pissed, my voice is shaking cause I'm on the verge of tears cause I'm so angry, and I say to him 'Do not call me ma'am. I'm 19 years old, Ma'am is something you call someone who's 40!' I hate when people use the word ma'am, so does my mom, I don't think it's at all polite in the slightest and I find it to be very condescending. So he kind of gets in my face and is all 'fine then, I was trying to help you but you're just jumping down my throat so you can get out too'. So I've gone and gotten myself kicked out as well, like I give a flying fuck, I was going to leave with my sister anyway. And on a sidenote, since when does telling someone not to call you ma'am justify you getting kicked out of somplace anyway? I have the right to tell him not to call me that.

So then Krista is like 'can I please talk to you calmly and explain the situation?' And he's a jackass and is like 'No, I tried to talk to her but she just jumped down my throat, so no.' So Krista's like 'you have to understand that she's upset right now.' I effing hate this guy so I'm just like 'I'll leave okay? And she can talk to you.' So then Krista realizes that my sweatshirt got left behind in the seats so she tells the guy that my sweatshirt got left behind and I have to go back and get it. Swear to god, the guy looks like we just told him we have to run to Alaska to go grab it, like this is the worst news ever. So he's like 'fine, I'll escort you back to your seat to grab it.' But I don't want to be anywhere near this guy so I tell Krista to go back and get it and she can try and talk to him while she's doing that.

So they leave and I don't know exactly what happened but Krista said they went back and he had the audacity to tell Krista that she doesn't get a chance to talk and just has to listen to him speak. So he goes on this whole effign spiel about me and why I got kicked out. And he's all 'in the real world, ma'am is a polite way to address someone etc.', like he's giving her some kind of fucking philosophical lesson about the 'real world'. Needless to say, he won't listen to a word she says about the situation.

So meanwhile I'm escorted by a police officer over to where Alicia is talking to the other cop, he's taking down her information and stuff so he can file a report. The one security guard is there and Alicia's trying to explain that all she said was 'it's ridiculous'. I start crying a little cause I'm so pissed off and worked up at the moment and Alicia tells me not to cry that my Dad will handle this. We tell them that our Dad's a lawyer and they're going to be getting a lawsuit. And Alicia's like I'm sure you hear that alot but it's actually true, our Dad really is a lawyer. And all the security guards keep saying is like 'all I can tell you is to complain to customer service' so I'm like 'oh we'll be doing a lot more than that, you'll be getting a lawsuit' so they're like 'okay'. So the cop takes Alicia's information and then she asks for his name and badge number and he writes it down and gives it to her. So we stand there waiting for Krista to get back and the security guard is saying like Alicia said something that offended the other security guard. He's all 'you upset a grown man'. Like WTF? By saying 'this is ridiculous?' We're like 'all she said was it's ridiculous' quite a few times' and the other security guard is like 'well he said you said something so we have to follow the rules and you have to leave blah blah blah'. So we see Krista coming down, being escorted by the head security guard, even though she was technically NEVER kicked out of the place herself.

So the one security guard guy and this other security guard girl escort the three of us out towards the front entrance. And the guy's talking to Alicia being like 'did you say anything to really offend him?' and we're like 'all she said was 'this is ridiculous' and tried to explain that she has fibro myalgia'. So I'm like 'did he mistake fibro as the f word or something?' The one girl security guard laughed at that. So the guy again is like 'you didn't say anything to really offend him?' Almost like he's hinting at something...so finally Alicia's like 'what? like a racial slur?' (cause the guy was like middle eastern maybe or Indian or something...we don't even know) and the guard is like 'yeahh...' SO HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE, WTF!?! Now this dude is saying Alicia called him some kind of racial slur? I can assure anyone that Alicia is the LAST PERSON ON EARTH who would EVER call someone a racial slur of any kind.

Up until this point Alicia was calm, not crying or anything. But as soon as she hears this she starts crying because this is absolutely insane, now this security guard has slandered her name and made up shit saying that Alicia called him some kind of racial slur. I'm even MORE pissed off now so I start telling the people that Alicia is the last person in the world who would ever do something like that. I start saying that she studies women's studies in Unversity, she's all about equal rights and equality. She doesn't tolerate any kind of discrimination etc. etc. Alicia's cryng, saying 'I would never do that'. It's true, she would NEVER EVER do that. SECONDLY, the only racial slur any of us know is the 'n-word' and we won't even say it. THIRDLY, how do we use a racial slur against someone when we don't even know what ethnicity that person is? IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. So my sister calls my Mom and tells her and tells her to put my Dad on the phone. They've now escorted us past the gate and tell us that if we come back in we'll be tresspassing and will be arrested. So my Dad wants to talk to the cop so my sister asks the security guard if he can bring the cop over to us. And he's like 'well can you wait till the concert is over?' Um NO idiot. We're not going to stand here until the concert is over so we can get stuck in all the effing traffic. So Krista's crying, Alicia's crying, I'm not crying anymore and am just seriously pissed off. So we're like 'no, can't you just try and get him?' so he's like 'okay' and he goes off to get the cop but we're waiting for like ever and it's obvious he's not getting the cop and we can't go back in or we'll get arrested. So Krista goes and talks to this other security guard, this older guy, to try and see if he can go get the cop for us but he's all 'like I just told your friend you can wait and call tomorrow'. Krista's like who the heck are you even talking about? According to this guy, Krista's friend is this drunk girl who got kicked out of the concert who we've never even met. So I'm just like to Krista 'nevermind, they're not helpful at all'.

So we decide to just head back to our car and we walk back to our car and drive the two and a bit hours back home to London. So needless to say, I'm still fuming and probably will be until we get our money back at the very least.

To lay the costs out for you, Krista and I missed work so we could drive up to Toronto. That's like $50 right there that we lost. Secondly, we stopped at a restaurant to eat...another $40. The cost of gas to get to Toronto and back...another $40. Parking, another $20. The tickets themselves...like $80 each. Not to mention we drove like 6 hours in total just to get effing kicked out of a concert after like 5 songs because my sister decided to say it was ridiculous and this one security guard decided he was on a huge power trip and thought'd it be fun to screw around with us.

So fuck Molson Ampitheatre and the damn security guards. Lying, unhelpful, rude, condescending people that they are.
