House Hunt '05
So my house has been sold (conditional). It was on the market for a mere four days before a single man, who looks remarkably like Ron Howard, snatched it up. If Ron doesn't get his finances in order, his lawyer doesn't like the offer or he's turned off by the house inspection then the deal is null and void, but we're pretty sure that - come Wednesday - the sign on our front lawn will read 'SOLD' in big letters. If that's the case moving day is set for June 16th, '05.
Nearly a week ago we made an offer on 63 MCGARRY DRIVE in Kitchener, which is beautiful. The picture in the listing really doesn't do it justice. I'm willing to bet it's the same size as both sides of the semi-detached house we're living in now. Right now my mom, dad and I are sharing ONE bathroom, but in the new house I'd have my own (with turquoise tiles and daisies printed on the counter-top!?) and my parents would have a massive ensuite with a jacuzzi. The basement is finished, but it's nowhere near an in-law yet. We're going to put in a kitchen and a bathroom and fix it all up pretty for Tom... if we get it. Did I mention that both my dad and Tom (and probably me if I get a job in the same plaza) could walk to work?
The only sticky bit is that we made our offer conditional on the sale of our house. That means that if the current owners get a more solid offer they give us 48 hours to tell them that we can come up with the financing, and if we do that then the house is ours for SURE. Now, since we're in the process of selling our house it's a fairly safe bet that we'll be fine - BUT since Ron has until Thursday to say for sure he wants our house, and there's a chance that they might get another (more solid) offer - say - today... it's just spooky. We either have to lose the Kitchener house and quickly find another one, or risk owning two houses.
Real estate's so tricky. Yet it's all Tom and I find ourselves talking about. We're so involved in it, you'd think we were buying a house ourselves. I guess it's great life experience.
So fingers crossed that everything goes ok! Thinking positively... everyone's invited up to my new house for a HOT TUB come June 16th!
In other news - Tom and I might be going to New York this summer with his friends Brian and Nicole to see Wicked! Alsooo Tom's dad and step-mom are getting married this summer in Winnipeg!
