Still no job. It's getting a little depressing, to be honest. No one wants to hire someone full-time who's only around for a few months.
When I called the woman from the preschool she told me the position had been filled, but she'd keep my number in case it didn't work out. Clearly it didn't "work out" because she called me this morning.
Me (groggy, because I had just woken up): Hello?
Woman (I never found out her name... either that or she told me but I didn't catch it): Hi! Blahblah you called... blahblah...wondering if you're still interested?
Me: Oh yeah! VERY interested!
Woman: Do you have any experience?
(Gillian tells Woman about all of her AWESOME experience and how much she LOVES kids.)
Woman (who is so nice!): Oh wonderful! You sound great! (Me (in head): yesssssss!!!!) But you said you were in school? (Me (nearly out loud): CRAP!)
(Gillian explains her situation... even leaving out that whole moving thing.)
Woman: Oh dear... well that's really the only hiccup. I like to hire people who are rather long-term - the kids just get so attached, and it's hard for them to see their caregivers leave. You understand...
Me: Uh-huh...
Woman: I'll need to...check...everything..erm...out and think it over, I suppose. I'll call you if... we.. still want to set up an interview.
Me: Thank you...
Sucks. She's not going to call me. Even DOMINION hasn't called me! Same with SHOPPERS DRUG MART!
On the up side, I found this Canadian nannies website... it took me a while to get my head around the idea of being a nanny (is it a REAL job?) but I really like this one woman! She has a 3 year old boy and a 16 month old girl and needs a helper for 4-5 mornings a week while she cares for her newborn baby (which they're expecting late this month). I wouldn't even have to clean! I could do that AND a stupid part-time retail job, which I think would be pretty nice.
If she doesn't call me soon, I guess I'll have to start just handing out resumes like mad - no more being picky...
