What a dour fate that Ennis has had fall on him. Eoin also has nearly died, all for the love they have for each other. I figured that Arna would be vengeful, but I didn't think that she would humiliate Einnis so badly, or lose her place in the clan she had made for herself. I figured she would stay and tell him to forbid himself his feelings and association with Eoin. But she actually tried to have him murdered. That was much more hateful and scary than I had thought even she was capable of doing. Then to leave her own child behind. That shows what kind of heart she truly has. She is more concerned with her ego and position, than she is the love of her husband and even her own child. That is a vicious mindset that she now holds. Poor Einnis. He has worked so hard to gain his respect and position in the community, even though he didn't even love the woman he married. He tried for a long while to be a good and fair husband. However his heart would not allow him to pretend any longer. Its just sad that she had to see the results of their meeting. thank you for the new chapters, Janice
I feel I need to step a little bit to Arna's defense. She is acting the way she has been culturally conditioned to. Swift, decisive, and yes - vengefully. She did not leave her daughter starving and destitute, but with a foster mother who's taking good care of her and a father who has the means and the duty to secure her a good life. The only thing she did that was probably completely "her", and her own decisionn - going contrary to her father's advice - was sending those men after Eoin. Arna was very deeply hurt, and also completely disgusted, by what she saw Eoin and Einnis doing. At that time and place, such was the general view of homosexuality... And like Norse saga women, she is neither meek nor mild when it comes to making her own way in life. There might potentionally be an upside to all of this, though. Arna is free to find a man who cares for *her*, and Einnis does not have a wife to "hide behind" for years and years while going on in the same rut. Everything has been shaken up, and may take new directions. I'm very glad to see you reading and commenting, Janice. Thank you!
Erm... I didn't mean to tell you how to read the story, Janice. Sorry if it came across that way. I only meant to say that while Arna behaves harshly, she isn't *evil*.
