Wow. This stuff is real literature. The description just flows and supports all your main themes. The content is so exciting, learning about all this tuff, and the writing is understated, yet powerful. You don't need to hit readers over the head, just capture the very small movements that say everything. I feel transported into a different time and like a fly on the wall, enthralled.

As I was reading this, I realized that because my people come from Norway I may have had a Viking or two in my ancestors!

If your people are from Norway I think you can be pretty sure you have viking ancestors. Especially if your folks came from the west coast.
Thank you for the positive comment, it encourages me a lot!

I'm glad the story doesn't seem predictable! It makes it more fun to write iit when readers are curious about what will happen. Thank you for reading and commenting, I very much appreciate it.

This story is so intriguing, and it promotes a desire to learn more about a world long past or is it?
Farmers still toil as hard as they did long ago, to be sure with state of the art tools to aid them but still all harvest resting on the gods and what favor they award on them to yield a good crop and not devastate it with nature's disasters.
I love the enthusiasm how Eoin masters the language of the Viking, and it delights Einnis to hear it. He is very protecting of Eion and I believe it is more that just being a good worker, but his strong feelings for Eoin he attempts to suppress, fear of the gods or just his brother Ketil?
Eion takes himself at hand and has visions of Einnis. Einnis too had visions as his eyes followed the wearer of the brown cloak as long as he could see him.
Marvelous writing and research, Thank you so very much.
Hope you have a great day, you always make mine wonderful.
Love,
Torry

You are right that Einnis is trying as best he may to suppress the feelings he struggle with, overwhelming as they are. Both Ketil and the gods represent the cultural conditioning that Einnis has grown up with and fully subscribes to: That it is deeply shameful and unworthy for a man to lust for (or even to love) another man. So he's not having an easy time of it.
Thank you sincerely for your lovely and enthusiastic comment!

Amazing, you described the ceremony as if you were there. Eoin is accepting his thrall life and I am glad Einnis met Eoin when he felt sure. Thank you so much for sharing. Martha
