What a great insight into Alma and Cassie, via their significant others.

Except the real significant other has always been Ennis.

Yes, there was no easy getting over Ennis for either of the ladies - Monroe and Carl both come across as kind and considerate consolation prizes, don't they? Thank you for commenting!

Poor Ennis, it's very difficult not to consider how he managed to drive not only the women in his life away in the end, but also came close to doing the same with Jack.... All because he was unable to accept himself and who he really was. *Sigh*

For an unasuming man, Ennis sure made quite an impact on the people in his life. He definately made a lasting impression on them all.
Thank you for this interesting perspective. : )

I agree, Ennis did make a lasting impression. It's fascinating and also sad to think what kind of strong and positive impression he might have made on people and his world if he'd been at ease with himself, hadn't had to use so much of his considerable internal resources to hide away the real him.

I read this over quickly at first, but then by the end thought I better go over it again, but slowly this time. I didn't want to miss any of the details you were telling us. I'm glad I did. Another well thought out offering from you. Thank you!
