last lounge on the Porch

This is my last night at the great Carothers dormitory, my last night on the great Porch, and my last night of the summer semester at the University of Texas at Austin.

It’s been a great summer. Its had its ups and downs, but in retrospect, it has been a blast. Granted, classes were a chore, and my grades will probably end up anything but spectacular. Granted, there was some unwanted drama. In the end, though, I say fuck all of that. I met some great people, and experienced the beginnings of some beautiful friendships.

Having said all that, I am ready to come home to a short and sweet summer vacation. I come home tomorrow, and then return back to Austin in two weeks. The rest of tonight will be devoted to packing, studying for my final beast of an exam, and watching ‘Scrubs,’ the front runner for the greatest show of all time.

I have some important plans for the next two weeks.

- Take my mom out for a birthday dinner.

- Watch ‘Shawshank’ with Stephenson. Perhaps go to Half Price Books, and spend more of the money that I don’t have. Perhaps some beer and brownies, as well.

- I’m hopelessly whipped. I need to do something about that.

- One last HHOG night. I look forward to hearing about O’Brien’s summer. I look forward to making fun of people with Hoffman. I look forward to seriously kissing Harvat’s ass; I will tell her I love her, that she is beautiful, that she is amazing. Because her LJ entries make me want to slit my wrists with a dull butter knife.

- I’d like to get drunk with Katy. Sounds like fun. Reminisce about the old times and talk about the future. I’m going to miss her.

- One final all-nighter with the Crew. I miss Collin.

- ‘To Catch a Thief’ with Vicky. Maybe find a Dog & Duck Pub in Houston.

- A game of poker, or perhaps darts, with Foster, the roommate to end all roommates. Followed by another viewing of ‘Waiting’, the ‘Clerks’ of our generation.

- Do some reading. Finish ‘Dracula,’ reread ‘East of Eden,’ and also finish ‘Babbitt.’ Perhaps ‘Lolita’ if I have the time; I hear it’s good.

- Spend some time with Kyle, my honeybunch, my soul mate. Let’s watch ‘Manos’ and ‘White Zombie’ and say the things we never said.

This summer, like any extended period of time, has its own soundtrack. I like it.

- All My Days; Breath; Orange Sky - Alexi Murdoch
- Hurricane; Like a Rolling Stone; Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door - Bob Dylan
- The Adventure - Angels and Airwaves
- A Day in the Life - The Beatles
- Marching Bands of Manhattan; Brothers on a Hotel Bed - Death Cab for Cutie
- Unknown track title - East River Pipe
- Skip to the End - The Futureheads
- Come downstairs and say hello; Manifest Destiny; Ruby Falls - Guster
- My Father’s Gun; Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters - Elton John
- Under Pressure - Queen and David Bowie
- You’re my Best Friend; Another One Bites the Dust - Queen
- Silver; The Killing Moon - Echo and the Bunnymen
- Hide and Seek - Imogen Heap
- John saw that number - Neko Case
- Atlantic - Keane
- Rabbit Fur Coat - Jenny Lewis
- Bye Bye, Love; Kiss me Baby - Ray Charles
- Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
- Gangsta Gangsta - NWA

That’s it. I miss you all. I’m home tomorrow. Goodnight.
