4 stories from 2006

For my rec this week, I decided to go back to 2006. I looked through some archives and found some pretty good stuff.
So, my first story is a drabble. In this story, Rupert is in a bar. He thinks he sees an old friend. It's short, but the writing is AMAZING. This goes past fan fiction into the realm of art. The word choices really paint a very visual picture and evoke solid emotions. It is so worth reading. It's called Somewhere south of heaven by Always_jbj.
My second rec is another drabble by the same author. This one is set before the show started, not too long after Rupert left Ethan to go back to the council. This story is set from Ethan's point of view, but again, the writing is perfect and I love the way it paints the relationship Rupert and Ethan had. I also love how it ends. It's called The Illusion of Choice also by Always_jbj
My next choice is set in season four or five (Not sure which, but thinking 4.) In this one, Dawn is sitting between Wes and Rupert on the Summers' family couch and she asks Wes to once again tell her the story of how he and Rupert became a couple. Wes does, with a few interjected comments from Giles. It is short, but it's fun and cute and I really liked it. It's called How It Started by Deviantfantasy.
And my last pick for the day is a bit longer. It's set in season 8, after the group has moved to England and the new council has been set up. Rupert and Willow are doing some late night researching in the new council library. They can't find what they are looking for and take a break. As they talk and relive some moments from the past a few things become clear. I like how the author illuminates the parallels between the lives of Rupert and Willow, with their love of learning, excelling in school, the magic addiction, and one I hadn't really thought of before, both having a lover die because of their involvement with the Slayer. It's a well written, fun Rupert/Willow story and I completely enjoyed reading it. It's called Broken Silence by Dragonydreams.
