REC: A Short Rest by antennapedia
*waves* Hello, everyone! It's me, your delinquent Tuesday reccer. It's not quite Tuesday in my part of the world, though it probably is in yours, but antennapedia and I agreed just tonight that we would swap days, since I now have Mondays off and therefore have some small hope of remembering to rec.
In light of that, and also because I type this sitting in her guest room, and also (mostly) because it's an awesome fic, I'm reccing antennapedia's A Short Rest. It's FRC, gen, Giles and Xander friendship, and it was posted just this ast week for the Giles and Xander Octoberfest. The title is actually a very accurate description of the fic; it's quiet and restful and very soothing. In short, Xander gets the flu and Giles takes care of him because his own parents aren't up to the task. Along the way, Xander learns a little bit about Giles and what it means to be an adult. And then there are some very apt Tolkien references.
I've reread this fic about four times already and will probably reread it again. It has Antenna's usual high quality prose, some lovely h/c, and fantastic characterizations. Go forth, read, and comment.
