REC: House of Women by nwhepcat
I almost never read or rec WIPs. That having been said, nwhepcat is the queen of WIPs, so I have no problem whatsoever reccing her current story, House of Women, PG-13, Clevelandverse, Xander/Faith, Giles/OFC.
In the aftermath of yet another apocalypse threat, things at the hacienda settle back to normal. Wait, no they don't. A new and surprising Slayer joins them, as well as a former Watcher and a newly minted member of the Guardian line.
This is how much I love this story. Every day I come home on my lunch break, sit down, and do two things over my sandwich: I watch the previous night's Daily Show and I read the latest House of Women installment. It's really hard for me to say part of my lunchtime routine I enjoy more, and anyone who knows me knows of my undying love for Jon Stewart, so this is saying something. You really should read the other Clevelandverse stories before starting this one (there's a timeline available here, sans links, unfortunately, but they're easy enough to find at Hepcat's site), but it's lot of fun, even if most of the emphasis is on Xander/Faith (and some truly wonderful OC's) up till this story.
This story, though, is mostly Giles (with a roving POV). And what a story! There is action! There is romance! There is The Count of Monte Cristo! And it is delivered every day, Monday through Friday, in delicious little bite-sized pieces. What's not to love?
