Today, in honor of the fact I actually remembered in time that I was doing this thing, I have chosen time as my theme.
The first fic was written by Malnpudl, and is a particular favorite of mine. It was written to a challenge I set, and I think she did a bang-up job of it. It's a G/B/Wes bit of tantalizing possibility entitled After 8:30 and rated FRT.
http://malnpudl.livejournal.com/13752.html Why You Should Read It: No, nothing graphic happens. It's just a quiet moment, a connection between two people who never would have thought they had anything in common, one deliciously oblivious Watcher, and a lucious bit of writing that wraps the reader like a warm, snuggly blanket. Also, it's impossible to look at fountain pens the same way after reading this one. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
The second is more directly connected with time as a theme. In fact, it involves time travel - usually a one-way ticket to Wench Not Being Interested outside of Dr. Who. Still, this one is a clever premise well executed. It's by GylzGirl who is currently doing more for the Sparrowbeth community in PotC fandom. But once upon a time, her handle said it all in the best possible way. This one is a B/G, rated FRT, called It's About Time, and the title - like the handle - says it all.
http://www.wickedsky.com/gileszone/archive/fic/fic_gylzgirl_thistime1.html Why You Should Read It: On Buffy's twentieth birthday, disaster strikes in the worst possible way. She and the Scoobies spend several lifetimes finding a way to avert it. Can they discover the answer? If they do, will Buffy and Giles find their way to one another again? There's some graphic violence and multiple character death, but it's well worth both even if one is a bit of a weenie about those things, as I am.
Happy reading, everyone!
