Meh the Tolkien Estate won't release the rights to the Simarillion. Not to mention I doubt they attempt it for 20 years or so. There's an entire generation who love Jackson films. So its probably going to be a case for 20 to 25 years before they try
Not being a fan of anything Tolkien related, I can afford to be a cynic; it's all about those $. And once they have an opportunity to make more, they'll take it.
What stories though. They've been trying to get the rights to the rest of the work for decade.s and Christopher Tolkien will not have it. The only thing they have is the unfinished tales and even that's doubtful. Just wondering why aren't you a Tolkien fan?
ehh..I don't know. When it comes to "geeky" sort of things like this (and I, of course, mean that term in a good way) I was always more into sci-fi stuff. If I'm being totally honest, other than one guy I knew in high school gym class who always talked about LOTR, I had no experience with ANY of this stuff until some friends dragged me to Fellowship when it came out.
A lot of that stuff just went right by me growing up. If I HAD to watch or read this kind of thing, I tended to gravitate more toward stuff like Conan the Barbarian and John Carter from Mars (which was like Conan but with spaceships and lasers...haha). I can enjoy the three LOTR movies on occasion, but I must admit I think they'd be a lot more exciting if there were more spaceships. I rented that first Hobbit movie and (no lie) shut if off after ten minutes.
HEE!!!! it's all good. I enjoy historical fiction fantasy as much as science fiction. Hence why Dune is one of my favourite series! of all time. (I can't get into Game of Thrones though)
