Apparently Lois Lane may not be in the Man of Steel movie.
I know thanks to SV people are sick of the Lois and Clark show but she's an integral part of the Superman myth. She was created and realised in her glory even before Supes became...well the Superman we all know and love today. She is not some simpering damsel in distress she's a four star General's daughter and a pulitzer-prize winning journalist and most importantly she is one of the few women in comics whose sole existance isn't to be a sex object or be brutalised.
She is untouchable. And now, perhaps because of that very fact, she may not be in the Nolan-Snyder Superman film.
This is really not boding well for Selina's story in the next Batman- in fact it's looking more and more like they only introduced Rachel so that they could get rid of her and make the film all about the boys. It's a horrible trend in his films and I had hoped with the news that they are planning this new film that he might turn a corner with his characterisation of women.
I'm trying to remain calm about this but it's hard to shake the thought that the reason that the film will have Man of Steel is because the love interest will die at the end of the film and "Man of steel" will relate to his emotional state and not because of the fact that oh ....i don't know he's Bulletproof.
Smallville may have it's faults but the writers are getting major points from me for being able to write strong women.
