Part i  / Part ii

Aaaaaand High School Is STILL Going On

When Jongdae rang his neighbour's doorbell that morning, he hadn't really expected a dishevelled Minseok (well he wasn't surprised that he was looked dishevelled) to shake him by his shoulders and scream in his face for 5 minutes. Only when Jongdae's inner voice which condemned murder was starting to lose the battle against Lucifer did Minseok finally calm down enough to whisper

"TVXQ had a comeback"

Oh crap.

-------------------------

Minseok was struggling to continue with his regular morning activity of cleaning his locker because TVXQ just had a comeback and it was glorious and he couldn't understand why his mother hadn't let him skip school to revel in the return of the kings. He held back a sob as he wiped away the last bit of imagined dust from the front of his locker and threw the tissue in the trashcan nearby.

They had a dragon dance.

With gauntlets.

He took a shaky breath to try and calm himself and started organising his books. The choreography was so good.

"Hey" said a slightly familiar voice. Minseok turned to see He's Even Taller Than I Remembered standing next to him shuffling his feet a little awkwardly.

"Hi" Okay it may have sounded more like a whimper, but to be fair he was on the verge of an emotional breakdown.

It was a dutch-inspired track.

"...uh, yeah, well, um, see I'm a new student here" Minseok didn't really trust himself to speak coherently so he just nodded in response.

They incorporated dubstep.

"I'm in your Economics class...?"

"Oh so you know you're ruining my economics grade" he grumbled ander his breath. Changmin's high notes.

"What?"

"I said, 'so how are you finding economics?'" Yunho's dancing.

"Uh it's okay. I find it a bit hard to keep up since I'm still learning Korean and I missed the first few lessons." Minseok nodded. The reflection dance was so goooooood.

"I'm Kris." CATCH ME GIIIIIIIIIRLLLLL.

"...what's your name?" Kris prompted. He was getting slightly worried since Minseok's eyes were shining with something he really hoped was not tears because he is not good at dealing with crying people. "...um hello?"

Minseok shook himself out of his emotional 15th viewing of Catch Me in his mind and looked at Kris. "Wha- Oh yeah. Um, I'm Minseok. Nice to meet you." He grabbed his notebook just as the bell went off, slammed the locker door shut and quickly rushed off with several other students to his next class. Kris was left standing there awkwardly with his hand out in a handshake he would never get.

"...nice to meet you too?"

GAJIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

---------------------------

"There comes a time, when a man must do what a man does and stand up for what is right. No cause can survive without support, no church can work without a pope, no king can survive without his subjects. So I ask you, my fellow men," Sehun paused dramatically in his speech and tried to make eye contact with as many of his fellow students as he could from his position on the table, "will you stand up for what is right? Will you take the initiative to fight for what is ours? Will you be my mirror, my sword, my shield? My missionaries in a foreign field? I beseech you, join me in my just cause." Sehun slammed his fist into his opposite palm to emphasise his ending statement, "THERE WILL BE MILK."

"Don't forget the fried chicken too!" called out the senior from the other day. A few students murmured in agreement.

"No one cares about that" replied Sehun in the snootiest voice he could muster. Onew drooped sadly and his friend comforted him again.

"Milk is the foundation of this society. Without it we cannot and do not grow. Not just physically, but as people" Sehun wiped an imaginary tear from his eye, hoping that people would be moved by his passion.

It didn't work.

"Dude..."

"This kid has severe issues"

"It's not like they've banned milk, there's still semi-skimmed."

"Yeah and even if you don't like it you can have normal milk outside of school"

"Seriously dude, you need to relax"

"It's just milk"

"Noone even likes milk anyway"

"My dad's a psychiatrist, I can probably get you an appointment with him, if you want?"

"I didn't even know the milk was gone?"

"This is what you've been PMSing for the last week about?"

Kyungsoo looked sadly at his mentee. He wanted to support him, but he really didn't know what to say to make things better.
They have to learn to fly on their own. The elder watched on with a heavy heart as Sehun spluttered in indignation and tried to justify himself to the other students.

A smooth voice silenced the discussions, "I agree with Sehun." All the students turned to see Jongin sitting a few tables over with his obnoxiously big Dr Dre headphones covering his ears.

"...you know what, he does have a point"

"Yeah how are we meant to get strong teeth and bones without a sufficient intake of milk?"

"We're growing teenagers... we need milk!"

Sehun looked on in surprise and slight annoyance at how quickly everyone changed their tune. He glared in Jongin's direction but there was no reaction. The traitor was still tapping his feet to unheard music, oblivious to the catastrophic chain of events he had caused for Sehun's future.

"The only way we can sort this problem out is through Student Council"

"But elections aren't until next week"

"Kim Jongin for President!" Everyone cheered in agreement.

Sehun scowled; he was not impressed.
Jongdae was even less so.

"This school is full of fucking morons."

-----------------------

"No"

"What do you mean 'no'?!"

"No, you can't sit here if you're going to be talking about anything TVXQ-related," explained Tao calmly as he took a sip of his fluffly coffee probably-saturated-with-sugar Starbucks drink.

"UGH, fine then!" pouted Minseok as he sat next to Tao. There was an awkward pause where Minseok struggled to thing of a normal conversation topic. "I like your jumper."

"What?!" Tao looked shocked and Minseok mentally slapped himself for forgetting that his friend was a hipster. He quickly tried to save their friendship.

"No! Um, what I mean... is that... um, you're look really ugly. But you're not ugly! Your, uh jumper is ugly but you somehow make it look...good?"

"Oh, thanks" Tao gave a small smile and pushed his thick-rimmed glasses back up his nose. He then pushed his drink half into the golden sunlight falling from the window and took a picture with his phone. He then took a selca of himself with his half-finished coffee thing. Minseok watched slightly enviously. His young friend had quickly risen to popularity on instagram and had gotten thrice as many followers that Minseok had managed to gather in a year and a half in only 4 months. Tao even had a fuckyeah on tumblr. But Minseok wasn't about to tell Tao that anytime soon.

"I've been getting even more anon hate lately" sighed Minseok sadly. He really didn't know what he had done to deserve it, really.

"Really?" Tao continued to fiddle with his phone. "I still think it's just one person or two who send you multiple messages."

"Why would one person take their time to send 108 hate messages?"

Tao whistled lowly, "108?? Your life sure is hard."

Minseok dry sobbed into his arms "I know." The younger petted his head consolingly.

"By the way, tagging your pictures with 'no makeup' will make people think that you are wearing makeup."

"Why would they think I'm wearing makeup when I specifically say I'm not wearing makeup?"

"It's just how people think... they won't believe anything that you say"

"So if I tagged my selcas with 'makeup' they'll think that I'm not wearing makeup?"

"...no, they'll still think you're wearing makeup"

Minseok scrunched his face at the twisted logic. "But that doesn't make sense"

"People don't make sense" said Tao in a worldly-wise voice as he took another sip of his drink. "That's why I don't bother tagged my pictures with 'no makeup' either. They won't believe me anyway."

"You don't tag your pictures with 'no makeup' because you DO wear makeup"

Tao looked at him strangely, "No I don't."

Minseok laughed. "Of course you do! That's how you get your eyes like..." he couldn't find the words so he gestured under his eyes instead. His smile faded as he realised that Tao was still giving him a worried look. "Don't you...? But..." The elder looked at Tao in horror "No." He pulled the younger's glasses of his face and placed his thumbs on the eyebags he assumed were eyeshadow. He withdrew his hands and studied his clean thumbs. No.

He placed his thumbs back on Tao's eyebags and leaned back, trying to see what Tao would look like without them.

"Oh. My. God" Minseok was frozen in disbelief.

It was in this odd position that a slightly pissed off Jongdae arrived to see them in. They all took a moment to exchange glances with each other. Tao still looked slightly worried. Jongdae looked like he was regretting his friendship choices.

"...you know what? I give up." sighed Jongdae dejectedly, throwing his bag down and sitting opposite Tao. He looked about 346% done. Minseok turned slowly towards him, shock still written on his face.

"He doesn't wear makeup" he hissed across the table. Jongdae snorted.

"Of course he does!" Minseok's face didn't change and he slowly shook his head at his neighbour. Jongdae deadpanned.

"...what"

He threw himself across the table and placed his thumbs where Minseok's had been under Tao's eyes. He brought them to his eyes and his mouth fell open in horror at the sight of his clean thumbs.

"what"

Minseok and Jongdae were muted by their shock. They both sat there looking at their thumbs, willing for life to bring some order to the chaos their minds were in. Tao also rubbed his thumbs under his eyes and looked. Definitely no makeup.

Kyungsoo was heading to the toilet when he walked past their table. He did a double-take at the strange sight, not looking away until he had turned the corner. He then stopped and looked at his thumbs, eyes widening in fear. Oh my god.

"Hey Kyungsoo! Uh... are you okay?" Baekhyun concernedly asked his slightly shorter friend. He tore his gaze from his thumbs and looked at Baekhyun with terrified, wide eyes.

"...I don't know."

---------------

Chanyeol wanted lunch. His stomach was threatening a hostile takeover and seemed on the verge of calling out the infamous war cry that stomachs usually do when they are ignored. He fiddled with his pen and tapped his foot impatiently. Only 10 minutes left, hang on there.

Miss Choi pulled some papers out of her desk drawer. "Okay class, we need to assign partners for the psychology projects now. I want to emphasis that you need to work together and do equal amounts of work." She looked pointedly at a boy at the back, "that includes you, Jonghyun."

"But Miss-!"

"I don't want to hear it. Now I'm going to call out names from the register and you can pick whoever you want to work with. I may however swap people around if I feel the partnership won't be efficient." She looked at Jonghyun again. "Okay then..." she read the first name, "Byun Baekhyun? Who do you want to work with?"

Everyone turned to look at Baekhyun. They all tried to make eye contact with him, begging all their gods for the blessing of being Baekhyun's partner.

Well everyone except Chanyeol. He sunk slightly lower in his seat and stared determinedly down at his desk. He really was hungry.

"...I'd like to be partners with Chanyeol, Miss Choi."

All the eyes then shifted to glare at Chanyeol and he really wished he was shorter so he could sink even lower in his chair. Or better yet, be so tiny that no one could see him. It suddenly hit him that Baekhyun had chosen HIM and he could feel his cheeks heat up with something he couldn't understand.

"Okay, that's fine! Now... Cho Kyuhyun?"

Now there was something else fluttering in Chanyeol's stomach, and it certainly wasn't hunger.

---------------------

Sehun was not happy. He was feeling betrayed, furious, vengeful, disgusted and to be honest a bit sleepy.

But yeah, no happiness here.

He stomped through the halls, looking and not looking for Jongin. After he had showed Sehun up at his own motivational speech, Jongin had disappeared and not shown up for the next two lessons, which he happened to share with a certain upset freshman.

Sehun really wanted to give him a piece of his mind and explain exactly how Jongin had hurt his feelings. But, alas, Sehun is not good at confronting his friends and instead decided to get rid of his sorrows by throwing a tantrum walking it off.

But it was in the library that he found his friend, headphones still glued to his ears. The moment he saw Jongin, his anger melted away and he was instead filled with a emotion that can only be equated to the feeling of your entire existence face-palming.

"...Jongin?" his friend pulled of his headphones and nodded.

"Hi"

"Jongin," Sehun sighed heavily and rested his palm on his face. "Are you okay? Jongin?"

He shrugged,  "Yeah I guess. Why?"

"Where did your shirt go, Jongin?"

"What?"

"You are sitting in the middle of the library.... half-naked. Are you okay?"

Jongin looked down and seemed mildly surprised to see his bare torso. "Oh. I am." There was a slight pause where Sehun really just wanted to throw himself into the deathly fiery embrace of the Sun.

"...so where did your shirt go?" Jongin shrugged in response.

"I dunno." He slipped his headphones back on and went back to nodding to the beat.

Sehun sighed a long, drawn-out sigh. He looked down at his own clothes and sighed again. He pulled off the blue and white jumper he was wearing over his black dress shirt and threw it at Jongin's face. He turned and strutted out of the library, hoping that Jongin cared enough to cover his nakedness like Adam and Eve had done in Eden. He also hoped that Jongin wouldn't lose his jumper and had the decency to dry-clean it before returning it to him.

Sehun patted his own back. He really was a saint.
