The Big Picture Update

Well, I now have a ride to and from work everyday. It is great, I get so much more done this way. I love my carpool buddy and her kids, so all seems to be good... cross your fingers for me!

I got A's in both of my classes last semester so, woohoo. I had International Relations and Criminal Law, both were lower-level courses, but they really piqued a long-held interest in the legal and political system.

This summer I am taking Administrative Law, a graduate level seminar, and my god is it going to kick my ass! It took me two hours to get through my first case brief. I am sure they will get easier, but ... *wibble*

The class ends in early July and should in no way interfere with my trip to New York to see King, Rowling and Irving.

Speaking of King, I watched Desperation late last night (I had DVR'ed the movie Tuesday) and overall I really liked it. I wish they had done a bit more with the Marinville character, but c'est la vie!

Also, speaking of movies, I saw The DaVinci Code this weekend, not bad, and Tom Hanks and Audrey Tatou (sp.) were better than expected. I enjoyed the plotting of the book, even if I am not partial to Dan Brown's prose style... so I missed the winding road of clues approach, but I guess Ron Howard doesn't think that makes for great filmmaking and he should know, he's been doing it long enough... It wasn't the best movie I have ever seen, but by far, not the worst either. Still, if push came to shove, I'd take the book over the movie.

Also, speaking of books. I went over on Tuesday and purchased my Administrative Law book. $92.50 used(crap!), but in the yayness factor, I also got a book on Gendering Landscape Art. I read the first couple of pages last night as I was still not sleepy after the movie ended. It was great! The best part? The book was $1.48, minus my 10% discount. Therefore, I got my Administrative Law textbook, that book on landscape art, the index cards I needed for my class and a neat little card box to put them in, for $87 and change! Woohoo!

I have even been a little busy at work. I know I am never happy unless I am burning the candle at both ends. I don't know why I ever have the delusion that things can ever be different.

movies, books, the davinci code, shopping, house, stephen king, desperation
