It is amazing how, as a business, we try and watch what we spend, YET when it comes to the boss and the AE flying out for location shoots or 'sales meetings'(wink wink) any extended flights and long weekends will do.
We have known about this current shoot in San Diego for 3+ weeks, YET today is the day flights are being booked (at 3 times the cost might I add). Three people are going on this particular portion of the shoot, but somehow there is only one available flight for 2 people to sit together. The third person will have to leave at 7am. The other two available seats leave at a comfy 9am. How fucking convenient.
Now I don't really care what people do and who they may choose to do it with. In fact, if it wasn't the owner and the 'pet' of an assistant, I wouldn't care at all. Unfortunately where my office is located is smack dab between the two of them. Once again I go back to the Who Cares what they do attitude except for the fact the owner is married and the Mrs. likes to call and catch the staff in... in... well lets just say she likes to confirm her suspicions about who is with her husband. Apparently he leaves that out when mentioning business trips to her.
As the financial guru in the building, and the only acting adult sometimes, I have to weigh the two situations:
The AE is a wonderful schmoozer. Clients love her. She sucks at producing - or whatever... whoever... So, I try to balance my feelings between what is happening as far as being awarded production jobs and $$$$ (I love $$) in association with her, and what is going to happen once the wife has proof.
