Low-Key and Relaxing Christmas

Dec 27, 2009 23:17

Now that wasn’t expected! Christmas was very uneventful, but also not stressful. We’ll see how the family Christmas goes, though.

No real updates for December, as I don’t feel like that much really happened. I got sick for a few weeks (two separate colds… if you can only see the look on my face when I typed that) and things got a little stale. The blizzard was by far one of the bright spots, as I got to participate in some good ole sledding! Haha, I learned again how hard it is to climb back up to the top of the hill when walking through over a foot of snow! Since then, there has been lots of hot chocolate drinking (sometimes with a little peppermint schnapps, it’s good).

Work got stressful, as the end-of-year mail was arriving, the post office was late with delivering mail (meaning 2-3 hours of no work, then non-stop stuff the rest of the day), and I was working under a different manager. Between my new and old managers, the differences are night and day. My old manager was more of a matronly figure who is kind and good-natured, and my new manager is very bitter and short tempered. I understand that you have to get used to all kinds of people, but the transition has not been so smooth.

Christmas almost ended up like any other day for me. I slept in, and took the early part of the day as I would a normal day off (lots of relaxing). I went to my parents’ house to hang out, having been invited for a Christmas dinner. It was just my parents and myself because our family is having our Christmas celebration on New Year’s Day (everyone is out of the area for the most part until then). We had a nice meal, and talked about a lot of stuff (haha, including astronomy, as my dad and I ended up having an argument regarding physics and the solar system and the position of the sun in the sky throughout the year, look up analemma for more information). I successfully showed my dad how to upload his Facebook profile picture (I even took the picture) and add photo albums to Facebook. My mom was sick and my dad seemed to be getting her cold, so it was pretty chill and I built a bed frame that they had bought for one of the guest bedrooms. It was very nice to hang out with my parents, especially without the pressure of Christmas that my brother was responsible for.

This may be one of my last posts on Livejournal, as I’m in the process of switching over to Wordpress where I can have a little more control over my blog. Hopefully I can get everything together by the start of the new year.

I’ll have more to say when I get my energy back. I’m definitely ready to be over this cold season.
