The thrill of moving into my own apartment is starting to wane, and as I’m getting used to life as it is, things have definitely plateaued in my life.
This past week I ran into a lot of trouble with getting my sleep, and it threw my entire week off. Given the importance of having a good night’s rest, missing out on it left me feeling very tired and unmotivated. I wasn’t doing as well at work, getting home I left chores like dishes, laundry, and trash to go extra days, and more. Once I got to Friday, I was relieved to have time to catch back up on my sleep.
Saturday night turned out to be a lot more interesting than originally thought. I went to go celebrate my friend Christine’s birthday with her and a lot of friends in DC, and we did eventually do that, but a lot of alcohol was consumed and I kinda had to spend a good portion of Sunday recovering. Haha, I may have found a new weakness: Pink Panther martinis! I also got to partake in Christine’s “special” birthday cake (no pictures, but this isn’t one of THOSE sites, hint hint)! I was glad to see everyone again, and it made me realize that I need to hang out with people more whenever I have spare time. Of course, I prefer more one-on-one hanging out, mostly because being in groups I can get swallowed up in constantly changing subjects and attention-grabbing actions. That’s why I prefer small bars over clubs (another reason is my inability to hear the other person when having a conversation if there’s any elevated amount of noise).
Most of Sunday was spent in recovery mode for both me and my apartment, as I took generous naps and was able to finally catch up on a lot of housekeeping.
Apartment moment of the week: I decided to have fajitas for dinner on Friday, and also decided to open one of the wine bottles that my coworker had picked up for me at the Virginia Wine Festival last week. Having chicken fajitas with a 2006 Sauvignon Blanc (AmRhein Wine Cellars) does not work out quite as well as I had hoped! I’ll keep them separate next time.
Maybe this week I’ll crack open the strawberry wine that I have, as I neglected to do so. Heh, we’ll see how Monday goes!
