I've been waiting years to rec this.
Marythefan posted the 5X5 series on AO3. It's a Lotrips AU in which the Hobbit boys and the elf are a boyband, ala N'SYNC, and it's little snippets of wonderful crack. I don't think I even consciously know all the reasons I adore it.
