This restaurant/food post is not part of my assignment.
I just decided to post about it because the food I had there were consistently good. Not drop dead wow-how-did-i-live-without-this, but amazing for the Philippines and definitely a restaurant to come back to over and over again.
This is real restaurant food, people. Pay attention.
I started with just a basic Parma Ham and Buffalo Mozzarella salad with mixed greens and aged balsamic vinaigrette. Other than the fact that my salad was overdressed, it was still pretty decent. The buffalo mozzarella was pretty tasty and the parma ham was of satisfactory quality. I would say that the parma ham was a bit salty than ones I've had in the past although the texture of the parma ham wasn't bad. It was pretty tender and didn't take much chewing on my part. I would order it again for the mozzarella but maybe not for the parma ham.
My dad's salad was pretty savory. The individual components within itself was quite delicious. The squid/calamari remained crispy and crunchy despite being dressed with the vinaigrette. The mushrooms were nicely grilled. The plate was very pleasing to the eye and produced attractive shots on my camera.
My entree was quite delectable. I've eaten at Zuni twice and ordered fish entrees both times and they've cooked my fish properly both times. I appreciate that consistency as a lot of restaurants here aren't capable of that. The Chilean Sea Bass I had the first time was pretty amazing as it melted in my mouth as soon as it hit my mouth. It cost a whopping P990 but I would say it's worth it.
This time I ordered Baked Roulade Sole Fillet with Nantua Sauce (Crayfish based). Despite my allergy with crustaceans, I decided to risk it as the Nantua Sauce included Crayfish. My fish was delicious although it was cooked longer this time than I would have liked. It was still pretty tender though so I still enjoyed eating it. The sauce made it enjoyable to eat. God, I miss the taste of crustaceans. I was supposed to order the other dish with the lobster-lemongrass sauce but I didn't feel the fish that it came with. I was quite worried because midway through the meal, I started feeling hot and my throat started feeling tight. Thankfully, I didn't inch. I just drank A LOT of water.
My plate's presentation could have been improved. The plate looks very bland and could add more components to make it look appetizing. Perhaps something crunchy on top could benefit the dish.
My dad had the Medallions of Sole Fillet with Champagne-Saffron Sauce, served with angel hair aglio-olio and asparagus. I didn't get to try it because I was savoring my own dish but he seemed to enjoy his choice as well.
I drank my entree with a Sea Creek Chardonnay from California which complimented my dish quite well. It had the body to stand up to the buttery texture of the fish and enough power without overpowering it. The wine was reminiscent of honey and citrus fruits, but not of green citrus fruits.
I finished off the meal with my favorite dessert, Dark Chocolate Souffle. It was adequate to sooth my taste buds and remove the seafood taste of my mouth but it wasn't outstanding. I think they could have used better quality chocolate although I give it props for not being unnervingly too sweet.

My dad mentioned Werner (can't spell his last name) opened up a steakhouse near Carpaccio. He owned Gold Ranch that was on Pasong Tamo and that place was my home on weeknights. I devoured their salad buffet with Gold Ranch dressing and their various steak options. We're hitting that next. Ah yum!
I went to this party after hosted by Spaniards (not mixed Pinoy Spaniards, real ones) and oh boy!
What a feast for the eyes! I'm losing my powers though because I didn't meet anyone. I did see someone cute and he turned out to be Brazilian (he's my people) and our friend didn't have any idea who he was.
It's pretty cool that Brazilians think I'm Brazilian.
This is the proof that if you own it, people will think it.
