So I'm back in this god-forsaken-place after romping in cool Chicago for 4th of July. The moment that I landed, I felt like drowning myself, thanks to the pilot who mentioned "Red Sox". I had not heard that word in a week since I left for CHicago. Did not hear "sports", "Red Sox", or "Celtics", or even "basketball" or baseball" the whole time I was in Chicago and I was hearing it again. It was like being eaten alive by roaches.
Chicago was a blast, as usual. I hung out with my family and my HS friends. I shopped a little bit but not as much as I used to. Chicago has so much shops and boutiques...and nobody wears sports outfits. I was taking style notes on the streets again.
My uncle fed me bbq spareribs which were AMAZING. I asked him for the recipe and he looked at me like I was crazy. "THIS IS YOUR MOM'S RECIPE!" How was I supposed to know that? My mom only gave me her baking recipes. My uncle was like "Oh. Yeah, then she gave me all her cooking recipes." He then proceeded to dictate my mom's marinade which I will replicate...when the occasion arises. Perhaps on a beach trip with my crew when I get home, minus my favorite person.

I hung out with mg HS friends Camille and Miyan Thursday and Friday. I met Camille at Water Tower place because Miyan mentioned she needed outfits that weren't "Manang". Didn't have a lot of time to shop but managed to swing by Limited and H&M. I love H&M on North Michigan. Lots of cool stuff.
We hung out at her apartment (Swanky address) and waited for Miyan to pick us up for dinner. Originally, I wanted to bring them to Alinea but Miyan told me they had been fully booked for a week. Fudge. So next time. Then I wanted to bring them to the restaurant by Koran Grievenson "Avec." She was named one of best new chefs for 2008 by Food and Wine. The food was amazing.
If I wasn't stuffed, I would have ordered double portions. HAR HAR HAR.
The menu was divided into small plates and large plates. I did the ordering (as usual) so I got two small plates and two large plates. For the small plates, I got the salmon and the cod.
The salmon was so good. It was super moist inside and soft. However, it's just salmon.
I liked the cod much more. I liked the complexity of the flavors in the cod dish. I can still taste it in my mouth.
Then for the large plates, I got the pork and the tagliatelle. Both were amazing the dishes. I preferred the pork more. It was so tender, it fell of the bone. With my culinary friends, we call it "pork tender". It's really supposed to be "fork tender" but we're imitating one of our teachers.
No dessert. No space. We went to Fulton Lounge to have a few drinks and then Camille went home. I was still hungry so Miyan brought me to this hotdog place near her house where everyone goes after clubbing. Hotdogs never tasted so good. haha. I love eating after going out.

My cousins arrived from their family trip so I hung out with them for the rest of the week.
We had Korean food! YEY!!! I ate tofu chigae, my favorite. Then my cousin brought me to a Filipino restaurant. I was so excited!!!! It was buffet!!!! I ate a heaping mound of crispy pata, lechon, pinakbet vegetables and garlic rice. AND!!!! I had RIPE MANGO SHAKE. I wanted to die. IT WAS SO GOOD. I miss mango shake so much. The reason why I didn't really drink wine with my food was because I drank mango shake with everything...yes, even with my gourmet meals.
SO here's my plate. That's a disgusting amount of food. And I filled it....three times. HAR HAR HAR.
Yes, I am a happy camper.
I want to watch Batman, but I gotta wait. Supposed to watch it with him.
I'm scared of Heath Ledger as Joker. I hate Joker, he's so scary. Jack Nicholson scared the crap out of me as Joker. Now, Heath Ledger looks even scarier, especially since he's dead. I'm probably going to whimper in my sleep again.
GOOD NIGHT PEOPLE.
