The Beef in my Stew: TNA

Jan 09, 2010 20:33

So I'm sure some of you (whether you are a wrestling fan or not) have heard of the previous Monday's line up of Hulk Hogan appearing on TNA and Bret Hart guest hosting Monday Night RAW. It was on the same night but kinda of at different times. TNA's shows are usually around (recorded wise) 4 hours while the WWE's RAW shows are usually 3 hours, except for the '3 hour specials' which add up to 4 hours of recorded TV time. This was the first time in a while (probably since two years ago, and it was just watching it on a bored whim) that I have watched a good chunck of Total NonStop Action Impact, and from what I have seen so far (didn't get a chance to finish yet) I felt punched in the face.

Even for about the first hour, there were already several wrestlers on TNA who used to work for the WWE at some point who appeared on the show. When I saw Jeff Hardy, Shannon Moore, freakin Victoria one of the best female wrestlers ever (I think her ringname for TNA is Tara), Tazz, Mick Foley, and Ric Flair, I wanted to kick someone. Not Scott Hall though, he's been around for way too long and needs to go away for a number of years COMPLETELY and not just popping up here and there in the pro wrestling world at all. Alright long story short this show was better than the Bret Hart on WWE RAW because personally TNA's didn't seem as hyped up as RAW. However I went and watched RAW live anyway and recorded TNA just because I'm a WWE fan.

After watching about like...I don't know...an hour and a half, I felt like the number of faces on here were just so fresh and energized. Even the wrestlers who were on WWE and went to TNA looked better for some reason, probably because it was just a different show and I'm not so used to it yet, but something about TNA just sort of attracted me to their weird ass ring. As soon as I saw Bobby Lashley, I had to stop for a few minutes and switch over to Smackdown recorded. TNA was more interesting. So now I have to finish that show and watch another just so I can see that it wasn't a hyped up show just to give the illusion of awesomeness then show complete crap afterwards.

The female wrestlers actually looked jacked and althetic instead of most of the women wrestlers who just flash their bodies instead of showing talent. There was one cage match, I don't even know if it's called a cage match or whatever, looked pretty interesting and new although I wasn't too thrilled about the thick red bars because people can't really see unless they sit right up close.

The wreslters just looked like a past generation from before. It's not HD, the crowds are cheering louder, and the drama segments aren't so droned out. Just to double check, I'm going to watch another thing of TNA before I make a decision of what I really think about it.

But basically what I'm trying to represent in this is how disgust with this in comparsion with the WWE. I feel like their business should be ashamed of themselves. Recently they have been going through a business to world company change and lately there have been a lot of New Blood hired. Only a few of these people hired seems to actually take on fans immediately while others...sometimes I just feel embarassed to watch them. ECW is almost a joke. That is just pitiful because before it used to be one of the coolest brands during the time of New Breed and ECW Originals (the time when Rob Van Dam brought the brand bought from Paul Heyman back to life). Now it's based on the new superstar intitive, which sucks because I believe new guys should be spread out more instead of concentrated in one brand, and a small amount of older more experienced wreslters.

The newer generation of superstars, which I think WWE is in, it getting to the point where people just want back older wrestlers like Sandman, Mike Striker (WHY THE HELL AREN'T YOU WRESTLING BOY?!), and Edge. Speaking of which, he won't be coming back for some time and that really really sucks. Storylines are starting to get stale except for like...two. CM Punk's hardliner straighedge storyline is just getting boring. Smackdown has become boring. And I think it's mostly because Edge isn't part of it. Christian is back, and that's cool, but everyone else is just going to TNA. I feel that most excitement is shipping out. RAW is still good, and so far it's beating all the other brands' asses. ECW needs to get fixed or else it will be screwed for forever.

During this past year we have lost Tommy Dreamer, Umaga (due to an untimely death-get to that in a second), Jeff Hardy, and Edge for the time being. Now that not might be as much as some people would think, but if the WWE lost very big superstars like this this past YEAR; there's a problem. Also I did not enjoy how the WWE's excuse for not mentioning anything about Umaga's death is because they released a few months before he died. Screw that. If he worked well for the business (which he very much did) then he should have at least had a mention. So forget trying to get some respect like a decent human being if you work for this company and get released and die shortly after because it's not going to happen.

The WWE needs to shape up because if it is losing superstars to TNA, which to me doesn't have experience like the WWE, then there's also another issue. The WWE went through the attitude era and struggled to become a serious business. If these people are leaving a business they partically made to become this big, then there needs to be something done. Or TNA can just be the biggest pro wrestling company on the rise.
