Me, Mel, Claire and Kirsty went to Alton Towers yesterday! They all stayed round my house Wednesday night so we could get an early start! We had 2 for 1 vouchers so it would only cost £15. Unfortunately in the morning we realised our tickets weren't valid for the 6th of July. That was just 1 of many problems we experienced yesterday! We found a website where we could get tickets for just £3 more and went for that!
We left the house and got to Dunstable to find (problem 2) a traffic jam due to an accident! Than the radio reported a stand still on the M1 (Probably still from when i got stuck there the weekend b4)! When we got to Watford Gap where the problems were reported (and ironically where there were problems last time) the M1 was clear.
Problem 3: it was PiSsInG iT dOwN and there was ThUnDeR aNd LiGhTnInG too! I wasn't particularly interested in being at the top of a huge metal ride during a thnuder storm and I don't think it was a particularly desirable option to the other either! We stopped at a service station and (minor problem 4) expensive food and a lack of anything substantial so we were all hungry bunnies.
When we got to the park it was drizzly but no sign of the lightning we had seen earlier (and the thunder we had heard earlier) It got to around midday and the suncame out (yay!) but (problem 5) it came out a bit too much and while i was waiting in an hour long queue (problem 6 - the deceptively long queue for "Rita - Queen of Speed" - and there certainly not exaggerating with that one: 0 to 100 kph in 2.5 seconds). Anyway my point - while i was in the queue i got sunburnt on my shoulders and chest and it's all ouchy noodles now! With the whether as it was when we left, sun cream was the last thing on my mind!!! Problem 6: I also got a headache cause my head kept getting bashed about but Claire had super fast headache tablets and it cleared up quickly!
Aside from that it was a fantastic day! Rita terrified me when i saw the ride just before me take off as i was waiting in the stalls with Claire. When it took off my heart and stomach was in my throat for the first straight and didn't really come down again until 5 mins after. I actually found it hard to breathe (but just for the 1st straight) I was breathing in and couldn't breathe out again. It was an incredible ride! It was the only 1 which we experienced a long queue for! It's definately worth going in term time!
On the way home we stopped off at a pub and a had a nice cold lager (much needed) and counter balanced it with a veg curry (so good!) we even got popadoms that weren't on the menu for no extra. Pud was tempting with toffee & apple crumble but i was full up! Problem 7 occured when we Claire got lost around Northampton and we didn't get back 'til after 10pm but at least we made a day of it!!!
Rides i went on:
Spinball whizzer
Corkscrew
Rita
Nemesis
Air
(probably others i can't remember but it was a good day anyhoo!)
Toodles x
