Today was Gleefully Insane Day at work. Seriously. There was a memo. ... I may have written it. I may have also unwittingly started spontaneous Snoopy Dancing in a meeting with vendors we are kicking out of the organization. But there is no evidence so nothing can be proven.

Sam... I think I'm turning BiBro... He's fallen through the looking glass. And I'm back to the Alice references and there IS JUST SO MUCH MY BRAIN WILL IMPLODE. Sam will save Dean because it is THE RIGHT THING TO DO - and the consequences be damned. Literally. Alice becomes a Queen on the chessboard. Sam will lead a demon army to save Dean. Why destroy humanity when we are so much better at doing it ourselves.
If demons believe in Lucifer as an act of faith - do the catholic fetishes hurt them because they are loyal to Lucifer? This would be why YED!John was unaffected by holy water. Azazel wouldn't follow Lucifer.
I *think* YED meant for Dean to make a deal for EXACTLY this purpose. So he would have something to corrupt Sam. Sam is the stronger leader and Azazel would find it SO much tastier to turn the noble and self righteous Sam than he did bullying Jake or the others. I'll bet that's why he savored/favored Ava for the initial Survivor rounds as well. Andy and Jake just wanted to curl up. You could bully them to do what you needed, but Sam had ambition and drive. If you can turn Sam to the darkness...

I'm also laughing a little at the hard core nay sayers. In the spoilers for Born Under a Bad Sign the EDGs BITCHED NON STOP that Sam being possessed was an easy out. That it would have been more interesting if Sam had actually turned. Well... now he is and there is STILL bitching... hee. Dude. Kripke's even sold me on Dean selling his soul.
