So it has been awhile since ive actually updated my LJ like a good internet slaaaaave. here it goes.
my computer crashed a few days ago. I think it is a hardware problem, as I am gettingt eh blue screen of death and i have a bad feeling it is overheating since it sounds like an airplane is taking off. *mrrrg*
I am working part time in the library of doom where no AC or enough fans could turn this place from a sauna into a library. it is nice though. i picked up a book that is a collection of essays from the middle east report entitled "political islam" the essays are great, most of them are written well within the last 15 years, so its a pretty modern perspective. its keeping me occupied when i have nothing to do but sit in front of the fan and stare at walls.
The best news this summer is that I got the internship at Bouygues telecom. I start Aug 21, leaving me with a 10 day gap between finishing working at the library and starting at Bouygues. Since airline tickets to Algeria are ridiculous this time of year, I am going to see about taking the ferry across from Marseille. Wow, its so hot in here i almost spelled ferry fairy. WEEEE! Anyway, I am super excited about the internship, especially since it is going to be paid. It almost pays my rent when i work half time, so I cannot complain :) I get to teach english, more like familiarize, destigmatize, to the HR dept of Bouygues telecom. I make 970 euros/mo full time, so half that for part time work. YAY!
Lately I have been in a rut. 2 of the pools closest to my apt are closed for construction all summer long, so I am going to be trying to figure out which of the open pools in the 15th are the closest. What is nice in france is that for students, a 3 month memebership only costs 16 euros. You can't go out to eat for much less than that!
The fireworks on the 14th were amazing. My friends here are all good. We drink too much, whine too much, but soon we will be uber busy-especially me since I will be working part time and going to school full time. Ok, time to go finish up library things and get ready for Sarah's birthday party tonite!
