Pretty good.

As with any new group, its taking a while for them to find the common link between them. And the new player is learning how to work with the group aa opposed to being disruptive. (He wants to pick the pockets of the mercenaries despite everyone else in the party sayin no). But, once it was explained how things are supposed to go, he did well.

The party is:
Various (Aaron) Elf Diviner Wizard
Zargon (Brian) Elf Pathfinder Ranger
Merik (Darrell) Human Spellblade
Kytt (Dave) Halfelf Rogue
and
Kaerla (NPC) Human Cleric of Sherlyn

The ranger got a lot of use of his abilities:tracking, hunting, cooking, making shelter in the rain.

Various and Merik used Ray of Frost to freeze some fish the party caught with Kytts net so that they could save the food for later. (Good non combat use of spells).

They need to learn to work a little better as a team in combat, but I think that will come as the adventure progresses. Its one of the reasons why Im running this one first instead of an Adventure Path, so the players have a chance to explore their options and learn to be a party as opposed to 4 players.

However, all of them have good backstories and there have been some great role playing moments (Kytt swinging from a chandelier in the barfight, Merik semi-flirting with Kaerla, Various talking with the travelling artifact show, Merik interviewing and verbally sparring with the local witch, etc.) The first game had a mystery element and the players did a good job of finding enough clues to solve the crime. So its going well. I'm REALLY looking foreard to this weeks adventure.
