OH. MY. GOD. YES. That whole scene I was like A) this is so OOC I don't even know where to begin and B) you're cheapening what happened in the last episode, like now you've just given up and resigned to lying to everyone that cares about you, including Elena, and you're just gonna take the easy way out and kill people. Bravo, Damon, really. I never thought I'd say this either since he was always my favorite. But I think I'm just gonna set up camp in my little Stefan/Caroline corner and wait and see where they take Damon from here.
Yeah, I'm annoyed with how his character is being written, too. And for all Damon's general badassery we've seen in the past, I don't actually think his sudden love of killing and need to identify himself through it is all that in character. I always thought that part of Damon was actually a denial of self, a means of self-sabotage more than anything else. I get that the writers are afraid of turning him into a full on woobie like how so many 'bad boys' in TV tend to end up, but there's a line if you want the viewers to still care about your BAMF and I think they went way over it last night.
